Summary

Description

De ruïne van Zvartnotz of de kerk van de engelen. In het midden van de 7de eeuw hebben, volgens de overlevering, onbekende meesters hier een kerk gebouwd waarvan de schoonheid de Bysantijnse keizer Constantijn II zo bekoorde dat hij besloot een dergelijke kerk in Bysantium te bouwen. In 1930 stortte de kerk in ten gevolge van een aardbeving. De ruïne werd het symbool van de Armeense kerkarchitectuur.
