Designed with the expert help of Thomas Ralph de Vere Gulliver (1891–1933) and Carlton Studio, Auckland, the Institute adopted its coat of arms on 10 February and 30 March 1928. The Maori motto "Whaowhia" means "full" or "well-stored"; an allusion to the many treasures in the Auckland Museum. |
