Summary

Description
English: Baryte
Locality: Sherman Mine (Sherman tunnel; Leadville Corporation Mine; Day Mines; Hilltop Mine), Upper Iowa Gulch, Leadville District, Lake County, Colorado, USA (Locality at mindat.org)
Size: 4.2 x 2.8 x 2.6 cm.
The Sherman mine produced some of the most impressive golden Baryte specimens from Colorado. This mine is long closed and hasn't produced specimens for nearly 20 years, and these pieces are highly prized by Colorado collectors. They simply aren't seen on the market today, like most great U.S. classics. This specimen comprises fine, sharp, lustrous, tabular, gemmy rich golden color Baryte crystals. The color of this specimen is beautiful and much less common as many Barytes from the Sherman were paler in color. A great Colorado classic from approximately 30 years ago. From the N-19-3 area. Ex. Richard Kosnar Collection.
