Summary

Description

Looking in the door of the watchtower of Roman-period Mampsis (Mamshit), Israel. Immediately inside the doorway was a courtyard (??). Notice the cobblestone paving within. The entrance to further, inner rooms is visible through the doorway. This was a significant Nabatean trading town, lying on the trade-route that crossed the Arab desert and passed by the southern edge of Judean territory.
