View On Black - This is Split Rock Lighthouse, on Minnesota's North Shore, about an hour north of Duluth. Since lighthouses are no longer needed with radar and GPS technology, the lighthouse isn't in use anymore. But, once per year it's lit on the anniversary of the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald on November 10th, 1975. The beacon is lit at dusk and immediately after, the lighthouse deck and several viewing areas flood with photographers.
