Sumgait atrocities and the mass killings of the Armenian people in Azerbaijan were one of the most well-organised acts ethnic cleansing in the 20th century. This is where the international community showed how indefferent it could be towards massive infringements of human rights, as the response of the Soviet authorities to send in troops was belated and left hundreds and hundreds of Armenians massacred by azeris during 3 days.
