Nestled amongst the majestic peaks of northern Thailand's Chiang Mai Province lies the charming town of Fang, also known as Wiang Fang, meaning "walled city" in Thai. Located 154 kilometers north of the bustling Chiang Mai city, Fang boasts a rich history dating back to the 7th century.

Steeped in legend, Fang's name itself is a captivating tale. The town's landscape is said to resemble the seed of the fang tree (Caesalpinia sappan), a native species, inspiring the moniker. The "Yonok Chronicle" to substantiate the founding of Mueang Fang in 641 by King Lawa Changkarat. History buffs will be enthralled by Fang's past, serving as a crucial base for King Mengrai the Great before the founding of Chiang Mai, the famed capital of the ancient Lanna Kingdom.
