Big Cook Little Cook 20th Anniversary[edit]

Continuing television programmes[edit]

I’m not sure if this is the right place, but following a discussion here I thought it would be worth getting some consensus on whether or not to include the lists of continuing television series in these articles. Some of them were removed earlier today, but since such a change would affect several hundred articles across several countries, it seems quite a big change to make and therefore appropriate to discuss the matter first.

I’m fairly neutral on this. I don’t think they’re doing any harm, but wouldn’t lose any sleep if they were removed. An argument for keeping them might be that the information is relevant to the topic, while an argument for removing them might be the logistics of keeping them up to date. Each year’s list is basically a copy/paste of the previous one, and updates to information (such as when a television series ends) can be missed in previous articles.

When I created the majority of these articles in 2009, I did so from those that already existed (such as 2005 in British television where the information was already included). If you have any thoughts on this matter then please comment below. Or if there’s a more appropriate place to have this discussion then by all means move this discussion to that page.   - I do not know about the continuing programmes lists, but I can see that links to a large number of programmes that do in fact satisfy GNG have been systematically and indiscriminately removed from the annual lists, without any attempt to search for sources (such as television reviews in periodical publications etc). This is a violation of the guideline WP:RED which says "In general, a red link should remain in an article if there is a reasonable expectation that the article in question will eventually be created (either as its own article or as a redirect); remove red links if and only if Wikipedia should not have any coverage on the subject." The red links to notable television programmes should be restored to the lists, and their indiscriminate removal should cease. James500 (talk) 02:09, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    - This is an example of an edit summary that is simply not a valid rationale for the removal of redlinks, and I can tell you, for example, that "Reputations" (a BBC2 documentary series that ran for many years) certainly satisfies GNG.
