Abortion Pill and Total Anaesthesia[edit]

I don't know how relevant this is, but from personal experience I have learned that, for some reason, the abortion pill is not used in Greece, and that all abortions are performed with total anaesthesia. This seemed unorthodox to me, and doctors didn't give definitive responses, so I wonder if it's a legal matter concerning abortion restrictions. Does anyone have info regarding the matter? @Noxteryn thanks for the tip! I’ll look into it as it’s not something I’ve seen mentioned in my work finding sources. There’s a study in Greece at AUT of second trimester medical abortions that recently published its preliminary findings so maybe if this is true it’s a push for a policy change. Hi Noxteryn (talk · contribs)! I did some digging - weirdly difficult - and found this publication from a subsidiary of the WHO on the status of medical abortion in Greece - the short answer is that when mifepristone was approved in 1999 by the French, a number of countries followed suit for its use up to 49 days, Greece being one of them (see page 7). Studies have also been done in Greece on the effectiveness of medical abortion dating back to 2005, so clearly something is happening with medical abortion.
