Speedy delete[edit]

The person who requested this delete apparently intends to move Anaheim, California here in violation of The (city, state) format for US cities at WP:NC:CITY. He has already done so with San Luis Obispo, California. Rklear (talk) 14:23, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll point out that WP:NC:CITY is clear in that cities that need no disambiguation do not need the "City, State" format and should just be named "City". Seattle is a good example of where the article properly follows WP:NC:CITY. It is my intention to follow through with this page's move, as well.  X  S  G  01:06, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To quote directly from the United States section of WP:NC:CITY:
Cities listed in the AP Stylebook as not requiring the state modifier may be listed at City if they are the primary topic for that name. Cities that meet these criteria are: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Honolulu, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, New Orleans, New York City, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle.[1] No other city should be listed at City. (Emphasis added.)
There is discussion at that page explaining the issue that you may want to read before going further. I would also point out that someone (not me) has already reverted your San Luis Obispo move. Rklear (talk) 01:33, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I stand corrected. And I'm glad the SLO move was reverted. I was obviously in the wrong.  X  S  G  01:54, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
