geez- i am still typing the first line and already i have a speedy deletion sign- whatgives? Mtl1969 (talk) 19:50, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You need some sources to demonstrate the notability of this term, or it may be deleted as a neologism. Beeblbrox (talk) 19:56, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i realised that but i was till crating the article while i kept on gettng interrrupted by people who wanted to delete it. Anyway, i have now written it to the best of my ability, and added sources. I will remove the 'under construction tag' and suggest the speedy deletion gets removed as well.

I am aware that this is not a scientiic subject but it is a term that has been used widely and for at least 10 years. Do a Google and you will find many references- but no definition. The beauty of Wiipedia that it can be a repository for such common knowledge and make information about teh topic more easily accessible. thank you Mtl1969 (talk) 20:23, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hiking project[edit]

I am sorry, but the BPT is NOT a hiking trail in the traditional sense of the word. There are no maps and it is not signposted. it is a concept, not a physical path. I suggest the tag be removed. Mtl1969 (talk) 21:58, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

removed 'hiking trail' tag Mtl1969 (talk) 20:13, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Banana Pancake Photo[edit]

The photo within the article does not show banana pancakes as found along the BPT. The pancakes shown are of the wrong size and consistency (they appear to be an American variant) and the portion of banana minimal compared to Asian servings.

I would suggest that an image of a more typical banana pancake is uploaded and that the current image of American pancakes and two slices of banana is removed. Consensus? ;) Stephenjh (talk) 08:36, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I concur with your suggestion to delete the picture. This is not the type of banana pancake which is served in the places along the BPT. Takeaway (talk) 09:38, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There were no other pics of appropriate banana pancakes in the Commons, but you're welcome to find and upload a more suitable one.Misterx2000 (talk) 12:18, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree that this picture needs to be removed (i originated this article BTW). This article is not about banana pancakes, it is about the banana pancake trail. therefore it makes no sense to put a random picture of a banana pancake there if it is clear that this kind of pancake is not available on the BCP. given the comments from the various users above, all of whom have contributed to this article before, i beleive there is consensus and have therefore removed the picture. I'll be going to Khao Sarn Road this afternoon to make a picture of a proper KSR banana pancake. I'll upload it as soon as I have time.Takeaway (talk) 07:23, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

major clean-up[edit]

I am going to do some major cleaning up. in the last few days all kinds of dubious detail has been added, as if the BPT is clearly signposted and its visitors can be measured exactly. this is not the case. one user also added the neologism of 'flashpacker', the wikipedia entry of which was made by the same poster. The artciel has now also been flagged with an advertising tag, due to its pompous and 'bragging' tone. I am going to clean it up and remove the tag. Mtl1969 (talk) 20:13, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

done. there were really too many unsubstantiated facts and fluffy advertising language. Mtl1969 (talk) 20:39, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

External links[edit]

Just a reminder that the relevant guideline prohibits links to personal websites, including blogs and travelogues. Wikipedia is not an opportunity to attract readers to someone's vacation memoirs. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:17, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lake Toba[edit]

From: http://bpiw.pu.go.id/uploads/20170302_Lake_Toba_Market_and_Demand_Assessment.pdf

"FOREIGN VISITORS IN COMMERCIAL ACCOMMODATION Foreign visitor arrivals in commercial accommodation at Lake Toba were approximately 58,700 in 2015, compared to 662,500 domestic visitors. Lake Toba captured less than 20% of international visitors to Sumatera Utara (370,000), and less than 1% of total international visitors to Indonesia."

"Lake Toba is far away from the main tourism destinations in Indonesia (Bali, Jakarta), and therefore cannot be included in classic “mainstream” circuits, but rather on circuits focusing exclusively on Sumatera Utara"

Less than 1% of Indonesia's foreign visitors hardly qualifies for being on the list. And the foreign visitors are mostly from Malaysia and Singapore, which is not the typical "banana pancake" demographic. In the 90s, this was quite different, but since then, there's no way Lake Toba could be considered on the trial. Yes, it's one of the top places for foreign visitors on Sumatra, but Sumatra has hardly any tourists overall compared to Bali/Lombok/Java, so that is meaningless. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 36.84.228.252 (talk) 03:03, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
