how many[edit]

What is the evidence that there were 38 instead of 48 Scouts? Having 38 scouts from the 38th Constabulary leads to suspicion of error here. And what is the evidence that the Constabulary did not use the piled enemy dead as protective cover? Certainly, that would not be a new feature of warfare.
