Intro[edit]

The second sentence seems overly biased. How can anyone claim anyone's criticism of popular culture is "misguided"? If you can, please provide an example. Otherwise, I strongly suggest deleting the final phrase of the second sentence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.160.236.141 (talk) 22:03, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That line was part of vandalism, which appeared to be related to a minor controversy over an article she wrote about Iowa (see my other post on this Talk page). I reverted the vandalism. Thegeniusboy05 (talk) 21:17, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Controversies?[edit]

Out of curiosity, what's so controversial about the controversies described in this article? A bombastic double-barreled critique of Sara Palin, caustic words about J.C. Penney's -- is that a controversy? Anybody object to removing these so-called controversies? Cintra is a critic after all, and a biting one at that, but since when is that controversial? 71.139.34.249 (talk) 23:12, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously blown out of proportion here. I may try to trim this back to give proper weight. Her books deserve the main focus.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 00:48, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I am the original creator of the Controversies section, and now realize the error of my ways. The original purpose was to try to keep biased opinions re: the NYT JC Penney article from being posted, to try to give more structure to the subject of her more controversial articles. Upon consideration of the comments previously posted, I will remove the section, as it does not seem to properly fit Wikipedia guidelines.Masontrace (talk) 06:34, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Several days ago, she wrote an blog article for Elle about fashion that she had observed at the Iowa State Fair, for an upcoming book on how regions, culture, religion, etc. affect people's fashion tastes[1][2][3]. Evidently, ELLE got a bunch of angry e-mails, and the post was taken down. A couple users vandalized this WP article a few days ago, and one of the edits was directly related to this. The article was pretty tame, and it doesn't seem to be a real controversy, but I figured that was relevant information for this talk section.Thegeniusboy05 (talk) 21:52, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
