Clotilde/a[edit]

Is there a reason we use Clotilde, which I assumed was French, instead of Clotilda, which I assumed was English, on the English Wikipeida? Are my assumptsion wrong? Does the (English) literature favour one over the other? If I'm right, should this be changed across the board? I just followed the existing practice, e.g. Clotilde. Is there any consistency in how Frankish names are done into English? I'm not sure there is. Chlodechildis? C[h]lot[h]ild[a]?
