How is Venezuela NOT a dictatorship?[edit]

Sorry, but Venezuela is not a democracy, Maduro is in power since 2013, same party, United Socialist Party of Venezuela, as the late Hugo Chaves, that ruled from 1999 to 2013, until his death, there is not free elections, no freedom of press, no alternation of power, how is it classified as a democracy?

Saying that Venezuela is a dicatorship contradicts an article from Wikipedia itself!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_freedom_indices

Note in the graph, Venezuela is classifie as a authoritarian regime bye the 2021 Democray Index.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.175.61.43 (talkcontribs) 18:08, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

i think venezuela is under dictatorship because the act and occurrence in this particular regime has shown its dimension of rules referring to dictatorship 27.147.234.164 (talk) 17:06, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore a Military Dictatorship?[edit]

Hello. I came across this article while researching for a project. I live in Singapore and I don't think it is a Military Dictatorship. Please make changes if necessary. Thanking you, Czarcasm2 Czarcasm2 (talk) 05:35, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

South Africa[edit]

How is South Africa a dictatorship? And how come there is no alternation in power if the legislative and executive are elected? Also, is there a more recent version of the index? Kiwi Rex (talk) 17:21, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe this article is more reliable: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index Baptx (talk) 16:51, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Persistent fake changes to Iran as democracy[edit]

The dataset, if you download it, clearly shows Iran as regime type 5 "royal dictatorship" until 1979 and as type 3 "civilian dictatorship" thereafter. This agrees with the map included in the article. Nonetheless, I see there have been persistent and repeated efforts to change Iran's entry (in text) to "democracy".

If you plan to vandalize the article continuously we will likely semi-protect it.--Ymblanter (talk) 13:35, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Poland was not a military dictatorship in 1988[edit]

The presented map is misleading, Poland was a military dictatorship in 1981-1983 (Martial law in Poland), but it’s incorrect to say it was still such in 1988. 5.173.137.237 (talk) 17:40, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Poland's first free and democratic election (post-Communism) was in 1989. Mediatech492 (talk) 19:45, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
