Useful info?[edit]

How about some useful information, like who the actor who voices dustin is? Or who operates him? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.16.63.175 (talk) 21:31, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Political Career[edit]

He didn't run as Dustin Hoffman in 1997 because he has never actually run for president, he has never been officially nominated or appeared on the ballot so any "votes" that were received for him (and the numbers have always been disputed) in 1997 or any other year were spoiled votes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.240.128.75 (talk) 16:52, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

he was making a campaign but claimed he forgot to register himself for the official poles Cillian flood (talk) 19:57, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Found it in the RTE archives, the name "Dustin Hoffman" is used in the video.

What species is Dustin, exactly?[edit]

I recall reading an article in the Irish Times not long after Dustin came to prominence, maybe in about 1990. It said he was a turkey vulture. More recently, he's presented as a turkey. Why the reinvention? In Britain and Ireland, the turkey is the most popular bird eaten for Christmas dinner, and has resonances of that season. Dustin's compact discs would have sold well at Christmas, so was this why they decided to make him a turkey instead of a vulture, which has no particular Christmas associations, or indeed any associations, not being a native species in this part of the world. The idea of his being a turkey connected nicely with many of his routines and songs, and of course he's played in pantomimes in Dublin at Christmas. The beak tells the story. No turkey ever had one that large. Pavel (talk) 09:25, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He was definitely a Turkey Vulture when he started, and the Irish Times remembered to refer to him as "turkey-vulture amalgam". I strongly suspect the Zig and Zag books specified he was a Turkey Vulture but it would be hard to find a copies. I'm not sure if it was deliberately retconned but my suspicion is that it was was merely simpler to say turkey for short instead of saying turkey vulture every time. (Had a look in the RTE archives but the oldest clip they have is Dustin on the Late Late Show from 1991 -- 109.79.76.131 (talk) 23:15, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Depiction[edit]

The entire article is written as if DtT is a living person, and not a character animated by someone else. WillE (talk) 11:42, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Name the puppeteer[edit]

I think the article should name the puppeteer. The hand behind the beak. Though I spent a moment looking for his name using google, without success. Aberdeen01 (talk) 09:50, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've found his name: John Morrison, so I've added it along with a couple of refs. Aberdeen01 (talk) 10:05, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
