meaning of "Evangelical"[edit]

I do not think the term "evangelical" in the article lead means what the author intends to say here.

In German "evangelisch" is the term for "mainstream protestant" and describes mainly the "Evangelische Kirche Deutschlands"(EKD), which is an assembly of Lutheran, Reformed and United territorial Churches and ecompasses some 90 percent of all German protestants. They also occupy the vast majority of protestant theological chairs in German universities, and it this group that is referred to when describing the non-catholic contributions to the Einheitsübersetzung.

The correct German term for the English "evangelical" is "evangelikal".

I therefore intend to change the term in the lead to "Protestant". Wefa (talk) 22:59, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
