Type?[edit]

What type of boat was it? based on the number, I'm guessing type VII...I'll add it, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. Antimatter---talk--- 04:34, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, judging from the number and placement of the torpedo tubes it's probably a VII-something. But I can't tell if its a VII-A,VII-B or what else. I did a quick survey of all VII-types, but none of them matched U-427 in Displacement. As an educated guess I would say it was a VII-C, since that was the most used short-range submarine of the Kriegsmarine. 84.133.65.74 (talk) 10:53, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Changes[edit]

I've made some changes:

1. "of a different sort" to "in a different way". I thought it was a better choice of words.
2. "unusual" to "harrowing". There was nothing 'unusual' about being depth charged, quite the contrary. It might have been 'unusual' to be depth charged 678 times, but 'harrowing' covers the situation between one dc and 678 of them better.
3. In the last paragraph, I've changed 'where' to 'when'. The 'where' made it sound like the U-boat was sunk in Loch Ryan and I don't think that was the intention.
