Hasmonean identification[edit]

It is ridiculous to identify this modern place, which was not built on an ancient site, with something mentioned by Josephus. The actual ancient site, which is where Jaba', Haifa Subdistrict used to be, is not customarily identified as the Geva of Josephus anyway. The experts are not unanimous on that, see Talk:Jaba', Haifa Subdistrict for a long recitation of sources. Zerotalk 14:22, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Everyone agrees that the modern "Geva Carmel" is not Gaba/Geba/Jaba, but that it is only named from the Arab village.Davidbena (talk) 15:13, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm confused - it says Geva was named for the Second Temple period Geva of Carmel (one of the sites of the Jewish-Roman Wars). I understand the dispute is whether it is the right spot geographically? (regardless of etymology)GreyShark (dibra) 10:50, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
