Should he really be categorised as a 'German of black African descent', when Algerians are not black?[edit]

Self-explanatory. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.223.240 (talk) 20:30, 26 August 2009 (UTC) Certainly when the French used Algerian troops during the occupation of Germany, they were called "Black", for example in Edmund Morel's article in the Daily Herald.Harrypotter (talk) 10:17, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

people from South Algeria have a darker skin tone than the ones in the north. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.230.240.230 (talk) 05:41, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Where is this article going?[edit]

He is defined as a black/mixed race "survivor" of the Nazi regime. However, his survival and that of the of other so-called "Rhineland Bastards" was not threatened directly by the Nazi government. It seems he only distinguished himself in being a black who used a suicide ploy to get a chance to wield a gun for Hitler and his Nazi regime. It is convenient, after the war, for a former black Nazi-supporter to be able to claim he only did it to save his life--but that is totally unsupported by reality. It truth, he didn't even have the excuse that he was "just following orders"--he did all he could to help the Nazi's out, even when they didn't want his help.

It seems to me the article should be re-written to define him as a black supporter of the Hitler regime who repeatedly put his life on the line to keep the Nazi's from losing the war, which is both more accurate, and, frankly, more interesting.

The unsigned comments above are more rooted in opinion than in in ostensible fact. I feel it would be more useful to have a more concrete understanding of how Hans Hauck dealt with the circumstances of his life, than relying on guess work which may well be inappropriate.Harrypotter (talk) 11:06, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
