Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because the animals stated within the article are not pets but commercial animals from the oldest family run Hereford Cattle Herd in the world. This history and article is of great intrest to followers of the herd, breed and cattle lovers. Thankyou for letting me explain. — Lewis thehaven (talk) 20:07, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The problem here is WP:Verifiability; I fear this may be original research. Author asked for sources. JohnCD (talk) 22:16, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any references you can add to this article, third party sources are needed to meet the above requirements, and would add credence to the article. Millertime246 (talk) 21:48, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
We need someone with decent proxy access to GBooks and/or just a very good library: I can see loads of references but they're in snippet view! - Sitush (talk) 12:36, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Woodhouse Dowager[edit]

We have a potential problem. The article refers to Woodhouse Dowager 6th as being probably the cornerstone of the US breed, but this, at p. 119 says it was an animal called Anxiety 4th. The year is the same (1881) but since we're talking a different name then might we also be talking a different herd? - Sitush (talk) 12:51, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Woodhouse Dowager 6th was a female and Anxiety 4th was a bull which I think clears the issue. Lewisthehaven — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lewis thehaven (talkcontribs) 15:48, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dowager spread her genetics across North America, with stock bulls going to herds and then these breeding, probably with the Anxiety blood line as well! regards lewisthehaven

I know little about livestock breeding but Anxiety is surely going to spread his genes further than Woodhouse D. In any event, we have a source that says Anxiety and does not appear to mentions WD, so that sentence is going to have to be removed unless it is reliably sourced very soon. - Sitush (talk) 16:00, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
