Malagasy legends of ancient Israelite ancestors often feature red zebu—a local adaptation of the biblical red heifer
... that millions of people from Madagascar claim ancestral ties to ancient Jews, according to a centuries-old origin myth called the "Malagasy secret"? Source: https://rai.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/1467-8322.12391 "the number of Malagasy adherents to normative (i.e. rabbinic) Judaism is eclipsed by probably millions within the larger society who casually affirm genealogical descent from ancient Israel"
Used in article: - The picture is used in the article but doesn't tie into the hook, so I don't think it's necessary.

QPQ: Done.
Overall: Good hook and article; everything checks out besides the picture (IMHO, this is a hook that isn't really possible to illustrate). Generalissima (talk) 18:13, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Really interesting article! I'll try to get to this in the next few days. Preliminary note; I would highly recommend using SFNs whenever you're citing a multi-page source, because it makes it so much easier to do source-review or just to look up information; I learned how to use them and never looked back, they're really nice. This isn't strictly necessary for GA criteria but it will make my job a whole heck of a lot easier doing a spot check on your cites! :3 Generalissima (talk) 18:17, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I never learned to use SFNs—maybe I can get some working for the heavily-used sources on this article; sorry! Zanahary (talk) 18:23, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, it's no worries at all! They're pretty easy once you get the formatting down. Here's an article I made recently that has a simple SFNs. Essentially you just put the citations you're using for SFNs at the bottom of the page enclosed by a refbegin template before the list and a refend at the end, and then for the sfns themselves "Sfn|(lastname)|date|pp=(pages)" Generalissima (talk) 18:48, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Zanahary: Hey, I'm so sorry about forgetting about this! I'll try to finish the review today and tomorrow. Generalissima (talk) 18:48, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No sweat; thank you! Zanahary (talk) 18:57, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Generalissima! No rush at all (this article is on island time 😎), just checking in—are you still able to review? This is my first GA process, so I don't know what a typical timeline looks like. Zanahary (talk) 18:00, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes! I aim to get to it today. Sorry, I got totally distracted over the weekend. GAs usually take about a week, but I've been a little slow. Generalissima (talk) 18:04, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there! Checking in on this. Zanahary (talk) 07:24, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Marking this as second opinion as discussed on my talk page, as I have not had time to get around to doing this. Generalissima (talk) 00:29, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you ever find the time and interest again, you're very welcome to pick this back up! I'm always around and free enough to respond to a review. Zanahary (talk) 08:57, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
