Sound evidence needed to allege someone is a war criminal[edit]

Editors need sound evidence before alleging someone is or became a war criminal. That means one needs to be able to cite a source that specifically says a person is considered to be a "war criminal", who makes this allegation and why; otherwise editors are injecting editorial opinion into the article about how a person came to be a war criminal. Sources that I can find on-line suggest that while Leibbrand was charged with murder, he was never convicted and wasn't punished due to the case being impeded by the statute of limitations. Unless somebody is convicted of a war crime how can the person be labelled a war criminal? Labeling a person a "war criminal" implies a non-neutral editorial viewpoint, so I think this statement needs a specific citation that identifies who holds this opinion or is making this judgement or allegation. Nevertheless, one can still describe what the person is alleged to have done, in a non-judgmental way, without labeling the person. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 09:00, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So I replaced this potential editorial opinion with a descriptive explanation of events. This is similar to the way the equivalent article is written in the German Wikipedia. I have also reworded the relevant heading as "Arrest for war crimes" because this is more factually accurate as the crimes were committed in a war context. There are several sources that describe the subject's arrest for "war crimes", but they do not say he is a "war criminal". - Cameron Dewe (talk) 01:23, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Concise and precise title[edit]

There are several criteria for an article title, which need to be not only recognizable, but also natural, precise, concise, and consistent with the naming pattern of similar articles. Titles should also be non-judgmental and descriptive. The subject is commonly known in reliable sources, and even German Wikipedia, as Kurt Leibbrand, not by his full name of Kurt Gustav Adolf Max Leibbrand. I have moved the page to be consistent with other biographical articles, which omit middle names from titles if they are not needed to distinguish the subject from other biographical articles. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 09:28, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comparing the English and German versions of this article[edit]

I found that the website www.bloges.wiki has both the English version and an English translation of the German version of this article. While these links cannot be used as reliable sources since they are redistributions of the Wikipedia articles, a comparison of the two articles is informative, and may help to identify additional sources of information. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 03:32, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
