Coeducation

From the article on coeducation: U.S. institutions of higher education coeducational from establishment Franklin College (1787) (later changed to become all-male) Oberlin College (1833) Alfred University (1836) Knox College (1837) Hillsdale College (1844) Olivet College (1844) Lawrence University (1847) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.207.246.230 (talkcontribs) 15:10, 26 March 2006

NPOV

This article needs to be edited heavily for NPOV.

The last sentence of the history section says, "Often, you hear of 'the Lawrence Difference,' and Freshman Studies is considered a big part of that." I don't know who "you" is supposed to mean, but presumably most people don't hear about this concept at all, let alone often. I'm not denying that there is such a difference, but it is presented as general knowledge when it isn't. Perhaps "People familiar with the school often refer to 'the Lawrence Difference'" would be more appropriate. The second part of the quoted passage is very poorly written and needs to be replaced, but I will leave that task to someone better acquainted with Lawrence than I am. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.232.225.95 (talkcontribs) 19:47, 20 June 2006

The opening paragraph also needs cleaning up: " In addition to music, Lawrence University is renowned for its tremendous science departments, especially in physics and biology. Its Mathematics deparment is also spectacular." This is boosterism. Kdammers (talk) 04:56, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Lawrence Viking.jpg

Image:Lawrence Viking.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

sophomore studies

There is no mention of the sophomore studies program. While this is not as profound a program as freshman studies, it still is a special program of Lawrence (if it still is being followed). Kdammers (talk) 04:58, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Lawrence is a member of the Annapolis Group, and the late Pres. Warsh was head of it at one time.211.225.34.48 (talk) 04:50, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

I've added a link to the infobox and the navbox for the Annapolis group is at the bottom of the page. --Acjelen (talk) 18:22, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

ACM

There should be a discussion of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest and Lawrence's study-abroad programs in the ACM and of its own. Kdammers (talk) 13:35, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

Institute of Paper Chemistry

Until the 1989, the Institute of Paper Chemistry was part of Lawrence before moving to Georgia Tech. Kdammers (talk) 10:19, 18 July 2019 (UTC)

Institute of Paper Science and Technology, now at Georgia Tech, was a part of Lawrence University until around 1989. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kdammers (talkcontribs) 20:03, 26 November 2005

For a number of years, the Institute of Paper Chemistry , now The Institute of Paper Science and Technology, was affiliated with Lawrence before moving to Georgia in 1989. This should be added.12:12, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Are the dates in parentheses dates of construction or destruction? Some don't seem to be right for either. Kdammers (talk) 03:53, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
