I see that per this comment in the source we have one minimum inclusion criterion:
<!-- Only add names here if the person has their own Wiki article -- anything else will be removed -->
That rules out all redirects that are or could be tagged with {{R from member}}, i.e. not-individually-notable band members.
I will make this an edit notice, to draw more attention to this inclusion criterion. – wbm1058 (talk) 21:40, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I see that this restriction is not strictly adhered to. I can see the value in noting deaths of band members who otherwise have no individual bios, but at this very inclusive level listing by decade becomes too unwieldy. I think it probably makes sense to split this list to individual years to keep the article size reasonable. A list by decades needs more exclusive inclusion criteria. – wbm1058 (talk) 22:06, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What are we doing with having this article duplicated by List of deaths in rock and roll (2010s)? Both articles are too long also, and it would appear the only way to solve that issue is splitting by year unless there is an alternative solution. First we should know which article we are keeping. No idea why the (2010s) article was created. FWIW, the one without the brackets is older and has received many more edits since creation so is likely the one to keep.--Egghead06 (talk) 05:38, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I prefer the way this article is titled. Brackets are usually used for disambiguation, and this isn't such a page - the date in brackets is a necessary part of the title. Was there any discussion of this when the split was carried out? Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:45, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
