Proposed merger[edit]

It has been proposed (by User:Fatepur) that Lokman be merged here, since they are one and the same person.

Requested move[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was Move Parsecboy (talk) 11:01, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Luqman, as Lokman and Luqman (sura) have been merged in, and this is the primary topic of "Luqman". Wilhelm_meis (talk) 01:18, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support as nom, Primary topic, merge done, no more need to disambiguate. Wilhelm_meis (talk) 01:18, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unsupported Claims[edit]

Many unsupported claims here which I have never heard though I am very familiar with the history of Luqman. I am trying to tidy up the article. Please cite anything you reinsert. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.243.199 (talk) 21:59, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Issues[edit]

This article currently has referencing, tone and POV issues, but I think it has a lot of potential. The main problem I see is that much of the article's content was taken from the Qur'an, and it reads like an annotated text. This is an encyclopedia, not the Qur'an. Per WP:SOAP #1, WP content should not advocate a religious position, and per WP:NOTGUIDE #4, WP content should inform rather than instruct, and content of the Qur'an is more appropriate to the Wikisource project. I hope editors more familiar with the subject matter than myself will help improve this article's quality and perspective. I would really like to see more Qur'an related articles improved to a better quality on WP. Wilhelm_meis (talk) 01:40, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Descendants of Luqman[edit]

Probably worth pointing out that the descendants Lukman Hakim were Bashkir Kipchaks

Witness the result:

In the genealogy of the Bashkir kypsakov passed (with some nuances) the same legend: "... 'Kypsak kind of Lukman Hakim' his father was a captain in the horde of Oguz Khan, after his army was defeated, and he [Kypsaka father] died Kypsaka born on the roads of war, Oguz Khan took over his care "(SB, page 95)"

Variation[edit]

In a variation of the story of Luqman becoming a wise man, he was offered either wisdom, or prophecy, and then he chose wisdom. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lonelytj (talkcontribs) 09:00, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
