Untitled[edit]

The article states he is the founder of the "American school" of oboe playing. Would be nice if it then explained what that is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.180.44.133 (talk) 19:22, 10 March 2011 (UTC) This merely refers to the American style and approach, and is not worth describing in detail. As an American oboist, I can say that a large portion of what I study with my teacher goes back to Tabuteau. Moreover, most of the best American oboists since Tabuteau have been his students, his students' students, etc. (Who the best are is of course debatable, but Tabuteau's "lineage" is very widely recognized).
