Why?[edit]

One wonders why the demand for more slaves could not be satisfied by breeding more locally. Slaves did marry and have children. Why was natural growth of the slave population not sufficient, and presumably cheaper than importing slaves all the way from Africa. It would be helpful if something were said about this.Bill (talk) 05:16, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
