Motion to delete article

If this page should continue to exist, the existence of a city, Naxos on Crete's mainland should be confirmed by an actual quote or map of the region. Wikipedia seems to be the only source on the internet that supports the claim of Naxos being a city in Crete albeit the source has a quotation saying that it was a city--even if it was a city it seems to have very little significance. If wikipedia includes articles of ancient cities with almost no evidence of their existence then why not have articles about banana peels? If it is to be kept, it should have some historical or mythological significance. This article, seems only to confuse readers. I suggest it be removed or have significant edits. Furthermore, the photograph of the so called city is not of the city at all but rather of a port of the Naxos island. Even this article claims that Naxos was a city in Crete. It no longer is one, for sure, and therefore did not have such modern facilities. Finally, if it exists and "[archeology supports its existence]" where is the archaeological site, some coordinates would be nice.--Nonymous-raz (talk) 03:52, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Naxos (Crete) clearly is not the same thing as the island of Naxos, so I have removed the irrelevant photo. Naxos (Crete) appears to be an extremely obscure place, but I have found two references in Google Books. It's not worth my time to look up the full text of these books in a library, but perhaps someone else will want to. --macrakis (talk) 20:40, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
