My apologies, I should have left a better edit summary earlier for this. My reasons for removing this category are, I think, pretty straight forward. Simply, this article is not about any cycle race. The village may host a cycle race, but the article is not about that race. Moreover, the cycle race is not a defining characteristic of the village (WP:OC#TRIVIA). Furthermore, the article doesn't meet the burden of verifiability (as per WP:CAT) that there even is a cycle race there - the only reference is that of population statistics.

If we did want to add a category about a cycle race, it would be something like Cycle race host towns, but simply, such a category would be pretty daft as nearly every town in Europe has at one stage hosted a cycle race. It still would not be a defining characteristic, which is what categories are for. SeveroTC 18:07, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The reason that I added the cycling race to this article was because not one single cycling race was listed for Greece. It is an annual event (and is the main sports event). It occurs during the annual festival of the church at the heart of the town. However, since I cannot find any references to back up my eye-witness account you are within your rights to delete it. But no other cycling races were listed for Greece when I added this event to the category.  Nipsonanomhmata  (Talk) 19:50, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will write a short article for the Tour of Hellas so there is at least one then :) (And I will have a look to see if there were any important but defunct ones). I'm surprised that there aren't any more, to be honest. SeveroTC 20:10, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. That's very constructive.  Nipsonanomhmata  (Talk) 17:52, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
