What do you prefer?[edit]

Hi all, I was wondering how to provide the following information in the future.

like it's provided now
possible future idea
possible future idea (without flags)
another future possibility
another future possibility (without flags)
Please let me know what you think, as I'd like to have your opinions before I'm going to throw the medals and flags in, SportsAddicted 02:33, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • My preferences, in order:
  1. Medals with flags in single-line format
  2. Medals with flags in hierarchical format
  3. Medals, no flags, single-line
  4. Medals, no flags, hierarchical format
  5. Current text-only description
I think a single-line format would save more screen space, even if it doesn't save any server space. The flags are useful, IMHO, and should be included. — Dale Arnett 15:36, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great, then I'm going to do them like this in the future and I will edit previous results as of October 1 as well. SportsAddicted 18:14, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Way too many unimportant sports on here[edit]

There's way too many unimportant sports on here (ATP tourney results for example), so can we please cut down on them? NoseNuggets Oct 10 2006 3:09 PM US EDT

Way too important sports compared to what? American College Football? Come on, this is all related sportsnews that should be included. SportsAddicted | discuss 21:01, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you're not interested in these sports, then just don't read them and keep it to those which interest you, instead of not mentioning them at all. SportsAddicted | discuss 21:04, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree to some extent. However, we don't want the page to drag on forever. I think we could do without table-tennis and taekwando results from the Lusophony Games. -- Mwalcoff 03:25, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not related to any of the countries participating on the Lusophony Games, but as it is an international multisport event, I think it should be included. However, I also can see that it's not really a "high quality" sports event, just look at the 56-0 score between Portugal and East Timor in futsal. I also try to fill up as much red links that show up, but I've been busy planning my trip this week. I will leave for this trip tomorrow, so the updates will slow down the upcoming 10-12 days, but I'm determined to update as soon as I'm back. It's a valid point to challenge what is considered "insignificant" though - Every Saturday & Sunday there's a list of NFL & College games here (of limited interest outside the USA), yet we don't have a list of every Saturday's English Premiership Football (Soccer) or other European games, despite the fact that (while of little interest in the USA) soccer arguably has a wider world appeal than NFL or baseball... - 82.152.174.126 20:55, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Euroleague[edit]

Should news from the Euroleague 2006-07 season be inlcuded on this page? Andrius 10:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's a continent-wide professional sports event, so it's obviously quite notable, but I think including each and every result is overkill, especially as there are so many matches (25 per team in a season). IMO it should just be the knockouts, crucial games in the second group stage (for determining who makes it through to the quarter-finals) and if especially notable teams (champions, say, or Spanish winners) are knocked out in the first grup stage. Sam Vimes | Address me 10:59, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, I think that there should be a round-up of the weeks results - not every single one but just some of the more unexpected results or the bigger victories. For example...
  • "The Euroleague season continues with the sixth games of the regular season as Team A overwhelm Team B by 25 points in a shock result. Team C can now qualify for the second stage by winning their next match."
Basically something along those lines. Andrius 11:29, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That would work too. Although you'd need citations for things like "shock result". Sam Vimes | Address me 12:50, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Citations shouln't be too difficult to find if a shock result occurred, so I don't see that as a problem. The first gameweek will finish today and there might be some unexpected results if not then a simple "...with vitories for Team, Team and Team" would do. Andrius 12:58, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
