Hi Bailey! Your outline is a great start. You've really captured the many duties and responsibilities of paintings conservator, from preventive care to emergency preparedness. I also like that you mention collaboration, since most people have the perception that conservators work by themselves tucked away in a lab, separate from the rest of the museum staff. Since you have a section on Controversies, I'm wondering if a small section on Ethics would helpful too (or a discussion of Ethics within the Controversies section). Hi Bailey, I feel your outline for Paintings Conservator is a good start. I look forward to see it when it is complete. One section I am really interested to reading is the Controversies section. As we have progressed through this course we have all come across instances when conservation/restoration have gone drastically wrong, and yet like a car accident, you can not look away. I am also looking forward to reading the Notable projects section.

In the Responsibilities section there are several sub headings but will there be a general description (before the subheadings) of the duties a paintings conservator conducts? I think this will provide a basis of information for people who know nothing about this type of conservator before heading into specifics. Also, are there any professional societies that a paintings conservator may be a part of? Adding an organization, such as the AIC, may help someone find additional information beyond this article.

The image you have provided looks really interesting. Is there a way to make the smaller portions bigger to get a clearer idea of what they are showing? Maybe adding additional images, such as the tools a paintings conservator may use would be good.

In terms of a resource that may be helpful, try the Conservation Concerns book we purchased for this class. It has some really good information pertaining to the Preventative Care section, such as storing conditions, etc.
