Let's not recreate History of Armenia here[edit]

I see recent edits that have provided additional information about the history of Armenia. The original version I wrote was as minimally informative as possible, but I refrained from giving specific names of people and dates as much as possible because this article is NOT about the history of Armenia.

The Background section should be a quickly digestible summary of the history of Armenians, and it should not presume that the user knows much about it (what is a Yervanduni for the lay man?). The only parts that we should elaborate here are the parts of the history that created the notion and/or the need of repatriation for the Armenian nation.

Anything else belongs to the hundreds of other articles about the history of Armenia. [ kentronhayastan ] 01:00, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm hoping this will not devolve into an edit war, so please consider this scenario: a reader comes to read about the topic of repatriation of Armenians, and sees a wall of text taking almost half of the article about something that is not repatriation of Armenians, with a bunch of names and topics that are too advanced. It serves little purpose. The reader will either skip the entire section or skip the article as a whole. It is intimidating. If a reader wanted to read about the History of Armenia, they'd visit History of Armenia. However, a little history makes sense. Something quick and easy, which requires no deep knowledge about the history of Armenia except the events that created the situation that made repatriation a topic. I hope this makes sense.
