Improvisor[edit]

It is asserted in the article that Redgate is an improvisor without defining what that is, how he is one. Some clarification and supporting info needed here. Toddst1 (talk) 22:05, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Would a link to Musical improvisation help?—Jerome Kohl (talk) 22:11, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Of course that wouldn't hurt, but I think talking about how / where he is known as an improvisor would be much more useful. Improvisation as a composer is very different than, say a rock guitarist. Toddst1 (talk) 00:05, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Improvisation as a composer would be a novel idea, all right. So might improvisation as a conductor. Redgate is a violinist as well as a composer and conductor, but I have not heard him perform, so I do not know if he improvises primarily on the violin. I have heard his colleague, the composer Richard Barrett, who improvises mainly using electronics.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 02:41, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth[edit]

I am informed by User:Toddst1 that Christopher Fox's New Grove biographical article on Roger Redgate does not confirm his date of birth, and consequently have been warned that I have violated WP:DOB by inserting that reference, which begins "(b Bolton, June 3, 1958). English composer...". In what way does this not support his date of birth?—Jerome Kohl (talk) 22:08, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Facepalm Facepalm My mistake - apparently I had a weird cache/version issue while editing. My sincerest apologies.
Apology accepted.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 22:54, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
