This simply isn't true. Where is the source anyway? It is also directly contradicted later in the article by the statement as follows: "In 2007, LCD television sets surpassed sales of CRT-based television sets worldwide for the first time, and their sales figures relative to other technologies accelerated.". 86.135.64.36 (talk) 19:49, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Television became available in crude experimental forms in the 1920s, but only after several years of further development was the new technology marketed to consumers. After World War II, an improved form of black-and-white television broadcasting became popular in the United Kingdom and the United States, and television sets became commonplace in homes, businesses, and institutions. During the 1950s, television was the primary medium for influencing public opinion. Nikola Tesla used the term television earlier than the listed time of August 1900.
