This is a work in progress. When I get time from my own PhD writing I shall add more. Please add your own contributions. I prefer not to use Rolfe's translation of Ammianus as there are many errors. The German Teubner text by W. Seyfarth, (1978 – reprinted 1999) Ammiani Marcellini Rerum Gestarum libri qui supersunt, 2 vols (Berlin) is recommended by most academics.
