Congratulations[edit]

To the editor's here. An interesting and comprehensive article about one of the prime forces behind a particularly interesting period of Russian architectural history. --Joopercoopers (talk) 14:48, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now let's get personal[edit]

That is, to Alexander Vesnin and Victor Vesnin (I haven't seen Leonid's own bio, so he'll have to wait). I'm not sure how they should look - how much of common info from Vesnin brothers should be reproduced in individual articles, or, if compressed to summary style, how densely compressed - for a proper balance between solo and team work. Ideas? NVO (talk) 19:40, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm - that is a thorny one. A few thoughts - we have no separate articles for Charles and Ray Eames as they're usually mentioned in tandem in the sources - admittedly our current article on them needs some work (and surely there's a free image of the chair somewhere?), but I wonder about the necessity to have separate articles at all (or more amusingly see Bastard brothers). Ultimately perhaps we should look at what added encyclopaedic value might be gained from separate articles. I suggest that, as they worked very closely together until Leonid's death, and Alexander's work after this was minimal, the only strong case for a separate bio might be Victor, but really all this could do is flesh out his work under Stalin - perhaps this article could do that more and dispense with the separate article.
Of course there could be bios for all three, fleshing out their personal life etc. but my, admittedly partisan view, is that architects are usually notable for their architecture, rarely is the tittle-tattle particularly notable - unless you're Louis Kahn or Wright of course. (My old boss interviewed Clough Williams-Ellis, who had met Wright a few times - "Terrible man, used to sleep with his client's you know?", and then there was the fire..... - damn it, I'm at it now.....save for ok magazine I think.) --Joopercoopers (talk) 01:18, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
NVO, I think you should write as much about them as time and interest permits. I know I for one would read them eagerly. If Khan-Magomedov wrote a book about Aleksandr then there should be enough for a whole article on him. Though if Joopercoopers thinks there should be a separate article on Victor then maybe there should be one on him too. I think if we have separate articles on one of them then we should have them for all of them even if they aren't all at the same level of detail. I would try for as much original material in each article with as little summary as possible. DVD 20:28, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
