Rationale[edit]

Please do not delete this article as traditionally Indian wildlife is looked upon and categorized as "Wildlife of the Indian Subcontinent" being much the same for all of the countries in the subcontinent. Indian subcontinent includes area en capsuled under Himalayas and the Indian peninsular. Wildlife of all these countries are known as "Wildlife of the Indian Subcontinent" and is mentioned under this category in books, surveys and research papers. So this is a legitimate and traditional category to classify the wildlife of this entire region since times of British India when the pioneering scientists and naturalists who started work to scientifically record it and its distribution classified it as such.

Even the Wildlife books published today in the region include all of "Wildlife of the Indian Subcontinent" to enable them circulation in these countries which share much of their common wildlife.

Please create more "Wildlife of ....." articles for all countries.[edit]

.... and kindly contribute to these new articles when you get time, and request others too.

See Wildlife of India for reference.

Thanks

Rename?[edit]

Just in passing, might this article be better named Fauna of the Indian Subcontinent for better consistency with Fauna of India and Fauna of Pakistan etc? "Wildlife" is a rather imprecise word - or go the whole hog and talk about Ecology of the Indian Subcontinent. Just a suggestion, anyway. FlagSteward (talk) 02:40, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure about the rationale behind this article as it could just be a category. There is a Wildlife of India as well. Shyamal (talk) 03:34, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Afghanistan is regarded as being in South Asia, but outside the Indian Subcontinent. Leo1pard (talk) 09:59, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
