Big Bog vs. Mount Waialeale[edit]

In 2018, I found several sources that suggested that a high-altitude wetland (hereafter 'bog') on the island of Maui, Hawaii, USA, received exceptional precipitation. Some of these sources listed average annual precipitation as being higher than Mount Waialeale, Kauai, USA. At this time, Mount Waialeale was regarded as the 'wettest' place in Hawaii, and in Oceania. I created the page for the so-called 'Big Bog' and went about changing other articles to reference its provenance as the wettest location.

I was younger at the time and saw no problem with claiming ownership of this 'discovery' and pasting references to my article wherever I saw fit, calling it my "campaign of truth". In retrospect I understand that this was against the spirit of Wikipedia. Thankfully, time has shown that I was most likely correct [1]. I still edit Wikipedia, but not as much as I used to. My interests have changed.
