Libraryowl

A wise old owl lived in an oak
The more he saw the less he spoke
The less he spoke the more he heard.
Why can't we all be like that wise old bird?

About me

I am a librarian with an MLIS. I currently work at a small public library. I was active on Wikipedia (and other Wiki sites) during iSchool a few years ago. Recently I've heard about the need for more librarians to come work on Wikipedia, so I've come back. My interest was also piqued by an article (and related discussion) about library usage, which I have recently adopted. I have really enjoyed Wikipedia so far, especially the warm welcome from the community, and I'm a fan of Wikicode (so much better than HTML!). I hope other librarians will join me on Wikipedia. If there is anything that I can do for you, please leave a message on my talk page.

Wikipedia's commitment to offering access to all human knowledge from a neutral position is a value that I share. I think the best way to get thorough coverage on a topic is to involve a number of editors with different perspectives. I'm working on articles that appear to have been neglected or not edited much recently and have also created several new articles. These articles probably need the attention of more than one person, and especially the attention of editors from outside the U.S. If you are interested, please contribute. I am looking forward to collaborating with you. Thanks, WP!

What I'm working on

I am focused on improving start-class and C-class articles on libraries with substantial edits. I am particularly interested in the following types of articles:

  • Articles dealing with the future of libraries and librarianship
  • Library-related articles that require detailed or updated statistical information
  • Library-related articles on important or timely topics that seem to have been neglected or abandoned by their original editors.

I'm particularly interested in collaborating with iSchool and library science students. You can get a feel for the kind of articles I'm interested in by checking out the links below. If you spot an article that I can help with, please leave the title on my talk page. If you have a few minutes, please review my edits so that we can help improve Wikipedia together. You can see my contributions here or talk with me here.
