Society is the term for a community, nation, or broad grouping of people sharing the same spacial or social territory, typically subject to a common political authority and set of dominant cultural expectations. Such groupings are characterized by patterns of associations (social relations) between individuals having distinctive traditions, institutions, and collective activities and interests. The individuals that comprise a society share a distinctive culture, which is a set of behavior patterns and norms that the society constructs for its members, and also encompasses the knowledge, beliefs, arts, laws, customs, capabilities, and habits of such members.
