Designed around advanced technology and affinity, the 315 series trains feature several technological advancements and improvements over their predecessors. When compared to the 211 series they are due to replace, their cooling capacity is increased by 30%; they also use artificial intelligence to control the internal climate, being the first commuter train type in Japan to utilize such technology. The trains' LED lights are designed around longevity and low energy consumption.[1]
Externally, the trains' front ends are of a geometrical design using straight lines.[2]
The trains are equipped with two sets of essential equipment, such as safety systems and power converters, to improve reliability.[1]
