Information icon Hello, I'm Roundish. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Toxoplasmosis have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Roundishtc) 21:55, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Roundish.
It seems constructive to remind the public that correlation does not equal causation, and to apply this to the case of toxoplasmosis, which is that toxoplasmosis infection because of cat hoarding may not be the cause of unusual personality, but a consequence of unusual personality, as cat hoarding is already the manifestation of unusual personality.
A significant contingent of the general public is unable to draw this conclusion unless it is explicitly explained to them, and without this reminder, will leave the toxoplasmosis article thinking that toxoplasmosis is a likely cause of this social phenomenon and not merely a correlate.
If you can think of a better way to write it, then please edit it, and don't delete it.
If you want to clean up that article, remove the "(insert self-promotional name of literally who is this) is a proponent of the theory that X causes Y." This is a trash line which I have read a thousand permutations of in wikipedia articles, invariably written by the person whose name is being referenced. It does nothing to inform the reader of the article about the subject - I do not know or care who (insert self-promotional name) is, I do not want to read the wikipedia bio article he wrote about himself, the fact of his subscription to the theory is not evidence for or against the theory, and knowledge of this fact does not increase any of my useful knowledge about the subject.
Thank you, and God bless. 37.214.63.145 (talk) 22:04, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
