Inspector Dale Smith - refs

Glad you got the image thing resolved, I have learned i have to sort the cache thing so it's all good. Ahh I see, well Smithy is notable so there for needs this work you are going to do, and no doubt you will achieve good article status for his character. You mentioned no references, I know what a pain that is so I've search through some refs and picked out the best ones that offer info. I'm going to strech your page a little so don't be mad at me lol. Hopefully with all of these collected in one go you can have a better start point with the ref problem. I'd reckon you are already condensing the storylines down so I won't tamper with that. But yeah if you haven't already collected refs I hope these do help you. They start here. (I apologize for my bad grammar.)

DYK credits for Lynn Bayonas

Updated DYK query On February 4, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Lynn Bayonas, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Materialscientist (talk) 00:12, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Well done! I've been looking out for it over the past couple of days wondering when it was going to appear. I've just been over to DYK myself to nominate L'Homme Qui Marche I. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:33, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! Was starting to wonder when it was going to appear myself. Whereas Susan Bower seemed to spend a few days being prepared for the front page, I think Lynn Bayonas just bypassed all that and went straight to front page lol --5 albert square (talk) 01:25, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Take care when doing your cleaning,

Heracles31 (talk) 22:50, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, sorry, I can only see the paragraphs I'm editing, not yet worked out how to see the rest of the page before I revert :) --5 albert square (talk) 22:53, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
I can give you my trick :-) First, I start with Huggle and do fast cleaning. Each and every time I reverse something in Huggle, I click the button for opening the page containing my edit in the browser (should I re-fix the same article later, I do not re-open it in the browser). I return straight to Huggle and continue for a while. After a moment, I close Huggle and go to my browser. I go down in the history of the first article and search for what looks like a few good faith edits and compare it with my own. If I find more vandalism, I fix it with Twinkle. When happy, I move to the next tab. This way, you have the quick response of Huggle and the deep investigation of Twinkle at the same time. This also gives me the opportunity to fix less obvious vandalism. If I'm not sure should I reverse this or not, I just open it in the browser and will review it during the second stage. Have fun, Heracles31 (talk) 23:12, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for that! --5 albert square (talk) 23:18, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Neighbours cast

Evening. Have you seen the latest edit to the cast page? Someone moved Summer up the list (I always thought that new characters were added to the bottom) and changed the hidden comment. I just wanted a second opinion incase I reverted the edit and I was wrong. Btw, where are you going on holiday? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 22:29, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Ha, yeh I reckon you're in the right.
I'm just off to London for a couple of nights. Travelling down by coach on Wednesday night, get in quarter to 7 Thursday morning, leave 7pm Saturday night lol. --5 albert square (talk) 22:33, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
I hate it when you want to undo an edit, but don't have enough room in the box to explain why you did it. I'll have to try and shorten my reason down. I haven't been to London for ages, I hope you have a good time. :) - JuneGloom07 Talk? 22:42, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
I see that your plans to take a Wikibreak are going extremely well! :p --5 albert square (talk) 00:02, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Summer Hoyland

The list of current characters is fooling readers into thinking Andrew and Summer are new creations. What should we all do about it? The character's should be in order of first appearance IMO. .. previous actors listed. Like Here with Eastenders. What do you think? RAIN the ONE (Talk) 04:46, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for butting in, but Summer and Andrew are being played by new actors therefore the duration of the characters applies to the new actor as far as I can tell. That's the way it's been done for a while. Ben and Charlie were played by different actors and have been in the show longer then it says in the box. When readers click on the link to the character they can see they were in the show before, I guess. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 13:06, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Btw, Erinsborough High is being considered for deletion. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 13:21, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
To be honest, I'm actually in favour of the deletion. There's really not much point to the article as all it does is list the students there! I don't think it's notable enough to be an article on it's own. Erinsborough High is in the main article about Lassiters I think, I'd be concerned if they were deleting that! --5 albert square (talk) 22:00, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
I agree with the deletion too. There's some info about it in the Erinsborough article anyway. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 22:16, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

You are right. I think in the opener it should state that they are in list order of the duration the actor has being portraying the character. At the moment it styled as character duration rather than actor in the opening lines of the acrticle. That's all. I think that was why people keep editing it. RAIN the ONE (Talk) 17:33, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

How about a couple of footnotes at the bottom of the table to clear up confusion? Instead of the hidden notes being hidden, they can be seen. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 17:44, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah that seems a good idea. It's just so everyone knows, plus might save us a lot of trouble in a edit war with those who want to move Summer and co, up the list. RAIN the ONE (Talk) 09:54, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Jordan Smith (Neighbours) DYK

I left a comment on T:TDYK#Jordan Smith (Neighbours). --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 04:30, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

I just attempted to push it through (with the help of other editors). I felt the argument of it being a "low-audience hook" and it wasn't a good hook because it wasn't within the U.S was nonsense. I argued that if it meets the notability guidelines then it is perfectly fine. I just thought you would have liked to comment on the issue. Thanks. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 20:47, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome, I didn't realise you were online at first but then thought you could maybe use an extra pair of hands dealing with this person. Christian Audigier

hello there, I've been trying to remove the Christian Audigier page because it contains incorrect information, not to mention slanderous comments, ie "Deuches" and a lot of other innappropriate statements. His birthday is wrong, his place of birth and overall summary is awful. I work in marketing at Ed Hardy corporate, and my responsibility and focus is to maintain a proper on-line presence. Legal has asked me to get involved in this or they will. Please make sure you remove and keep the wiki page removed until we upload a new bio and ref info.

Thank you.

Thought I'd let you know that oversighting and suppression refers to removing personal details (i.e. that guy's email and stuff) and the comment on WP:ANI wasn't directed at you, but I think, at the person you requested suppression :) That's why the edit history of this page has deleted revisions that even admins can't view. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 23:59, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Ah thanks for that Anemone, I was really thinking the comment was aimed at me :)

Edit section

I know that you are a rollbacker and probably know this already, but I can't help but noticing that you are editing whole pages and not relevant sections. Next to each section, there is a [edit] link (on right side of page level with section name)which allows you to edit that section only. It also shows the section you edited in the history. For example, the section edit for the section you were editing on WP:VPT is this. Thanks. ManishEarthTalkStalk 15:07, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you're meaning?
I use the Modern skin because it's the only one I can work comfortably with.
I don't have anywhere on any of the pages that says "edit" beside the sections?
Sorry but I don't understand what you're saying and I don't understand what it's got to do with what I posted at WP:VPT? --5 albert square (talk) 15:17, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Nothing to do with VPT (I used it as an example). The feature's there in modern too.

Continuing the example on VPT, this is what the edit button should look like: (see first image). When you edit a section, only the contents of the section are edited, instead of the whole page (Then you don't have to scroll everywhere). Also, in the history, the section which you edited is shown. This is useful when you want to know if the section which you are interested in was edited. (see second image)--same link as above.
Also, if you want to say that "You have a new message at my talk page", It's easier and much quicker to type {{tb|(your username here)}}. It gives a message like this:

Hello, 5 albert square. You have new messages at Example's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Cheers! ManishEarthTalkStalk 15:48, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi
Sorry but the first image isn't displaying when I click on either link? And I'm definitely not getting any edit button. I've looked at pages using both Firefox and through Huggle and I can guarantee that I'm not seeing anything that allows me to edit sections only. Sorry, but I didn't realise I was doing wrong by not doing this.
Yes I know I can use the talk back thing, I used to do until recently but then just decided to change things :) --5 albert square (talk) 15:57, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

I've had a look to see if there's any settings I need to alter but I can't see anything --5 albert square (talk) 18:40, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
It's alright, I just worked it out. You need to enable section editing under your preferences :) --5 albert square (talk) 18:49, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
I thought section editing would have been enabled by default. Can't believe you never realised it was possible. anemoneprojectorstalk 21:33, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Maybe I disabled it then but I don't remember doing so. In any case I do tend to edit articles as a whole because quite often I edit more than one section at a time. Like the complete re-write I'm doing just now to Callum Stone because somebody has thought to basically copy and paste half the article word-for-word from The Bill Bios or from various other articles :) --5 albert square (talk) 21:47, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
  • If you're interested, you can go to your preferences and there's a box you can tick or untick. It's under "Editing", "Advanced options" (second box) and it's the third tick box. Yes, I'm stalking your talk page- so sue me ;-)! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:12, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

In order that you understand it

The I articulate of Boomerang (Latin American TV channel) false information and vandalizando are writing America very much I suggest than the article Boomerang (Latin American TV channel) be blocked in order that they stop and in order that news stop.--Hugo Felix - Messages Here 23:29, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

If you're meaning that you want the page locked, I can't do that as I'm not admin. You would need to request that at WP:RFPP. Hope that helps --5 albert square (talk) 23:35, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
The user needs to use Google Translate instead of the crappy translate service they chose :) anemoneprojectorstalk 23:57, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I was going to suggest something like that. Julio - I actually reverted your edit because I couldn't understand what you'd put in the edit summary, and with the information vanishing off pages it looked like vandalism. I would suggest that you look into Google Translate, you also may find that other editors will revert your edits if they don't understand the edit summary :)
Thanks for changing my headings Anemone. By the way Anemone, an edit made to Declan Napier last night claimed that Steve McFadden plays India Napier in Neighbours! I had to do a double-take when I read that and couldn't stop laughing - India Napier is a 6 month old baby girl! --5 albert square (talk) 00:09, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

We have new character infoboxes!

A very kind editor has created the Neighbours character infobox template. Now we just have to go round all of the character article and changes them over. Doh! >_< - JuneGloom07 Talk? 11:18, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Lol, I've just tried it and can't seem to get it to work :) --5 albert square (talk) 12:56, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I couldn't get it to work the first time I tried. You need to completely replace the old box, once you've transfered the info over, with the new one. I've added a copy of the template I'm using in my sandbox, you can just copy it and start using it. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 13:18, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Ha ha, you've done it now! Just delete the unnecessary (step son) notes after the names as the section tells you what they are. But I'm sure you've spotted that already. :) - JuneGloom07 Talk? 13:22, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes I figured it out now, used Rebecca as a guinea pig :). Now about to attempt Callum Jones, then Declan. By the way I suggest that we only really change it for those that have a main page. So for example India Napier won't need changing as she's only counted on here as a minor character. It's just if we do it for every single character it'll be never ending! --5 albert square (talk) 13:36, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, I'm going to upload the cast lists I've been working on soon, so I'll have to change all of the infoboxes over. I've done 2010 and almost finished 2009. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 14:49, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
All the current cast boxes have now been updated. Anemoneprojectors has suggested you can use AWB to help replace the others that are left, so if you get bored of fighting the vandals... :) - JuneGloom07 Talk? 22:40, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
OK, how do you use AWB to do that? I didn't realise you could so I haven't a clue! --5 albert square (talk) 22:56, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

(undent) Make a list of articles within the Neighbours characters category. Use find and replace to replace the name of the infobox, and then any other changes that need to be made can be done manually in the AWB edit box before saving. If a particular field has changed name, you can use find and replace to change them all at the same time. But stuff like parents being split into mother and father would have to be done manually. Let me know if you need more help. anemoneprojectors talk 23:02, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I'm still not understanding. Sorry but still fairly new to AWB, not really used it for anything other than spell checking etc.
I don't seem to have anything under any of my menu options that says find and replace? Also how do I find the name of an infobox?
Also, wouldn't I have to do it manually as the information will differ from character to character? If I did, doing 25 years worth is going to take forever --5 albert square (talk) 23:21, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
The "options" tab has a box saying "find and replace". Tick "enabled" and then click "normal settings". Then you would ask it to find "Infobox soap character" and replace it with "Infobox Neighbours character" (without the quotes). After the page loads it'll show you the change. Then before clicking save, you can go to the edit box and make further changes manually. I don't mind helping. anemoneprojectors talk 23:33, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
By the way there are less than 221 characters to do :) Are there lists of minor characters too? anemoneprojectors talk 23:37, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
For example, I just did Caroline Alessi. Basically, the name of the infobox was changed automatically and then I did the rest manually within AWB. I think it's easier as you don't have to keep clicking on each article - the next one just loads automatically when you're done. You don't have to do it that way if you don't want to though. anemoneprojectors talk 23:40, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
OK, found the find and replace box now. I'll try and get this done next weekend. Sorry but I start a new job tomorrow so not sure what time I'll have before then :). Anemone, do you do categories the same way? I think I noticed you updating categories to some of the EastEnders pages earlier using AWB but I've never been able to work out how to do that either! --5 albert square (talk) 23:40, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I can easily to the obvious changes but if there's information that needs to be added like creators or introducers I won't have a clue about that :) Categories? Well today I've been using AWB to remove "minor" since we moved the lists of minor EastEnders characters to Lists of EastEnders characters. I just did "what links here" for the 25 "list of minor..." redirects. You can do stuff with categories too. Like, if you look under "more..." you can replace categories or rename files. It's not just for spelling :) anemoneprojectors talk 23:44, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
The only characters that have the infoboxes are the ones who have their own pages as far as I know. I've been working on something similar to EastEnders' list of characters by year in my sandbox and I've changed those infoboxes already. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:43, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
That's cool then. By the way, I noticed the old infoboxes include "age", "cause" and "romances" which aren't in the new one as it was based on the EastEnders one. Would you like them re-added? anemoneprojectors talk 23:47, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes please, if that's not too much trouble --5 albert square (talk) 23:55, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Surely most of the important romances should be listed in the article. Some characters, like Paul Robinson, have had quite a number of romances, so the box will be quite long. I'm not bothered if it's added back though. I think the {{birth date and age|1991|10|25|df=y}} template has replaced the need for the "age" section and causes of departure would be mentioned in departure section of the character article. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:57, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I've done it but I note that the age parameter was removed from the original soap infobox anyway. I've noticed a few other things that can be found and replaced on AWB... "image1" with "image", "|series=Neighbours" replace with nothing, "|colour=...." replace with nothing. All helps speed up the process :) anemoneprojectors talk 00:03, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Anemone :) --5 albert square (talk) 00:13, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
List of Neighbours characters (2010) created and uploaded today. Yet another Neighbours article to update and watch. :) - JuneGloom07 Talk? 13:13, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
We might not have new Neighbours infoboxes for much longer. The template has been proposed for deletion. I've been to add my reasons to keep it. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 14:22, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
The EastEnders infobox template has also been proposed for deletion. What a mess. I was really happy when I saw we had new boxes, not so happy now. I might ask round a couple of other editors who I've seen at the Neighbours character pages to see if they think the new boxes are a good idea and if they would consider lending their support. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:15, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Forget that idea, I've just realised that every character page has a note above the infobox. So, I'm sure any other editors will see it. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:32, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah and EastEnders is just above it so that will also help lol. I've just added my comments to that one too. Wonder which soap is next? --5 albert square (talk) 21:35, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Hollyoaks has its own one too, so I'm guessing that might be the next one. It's quite clear that the current soap opera infobox template isn't good enough and that's why new, seperate templates are being created. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:45, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Even more bad news, Will Moore (Harry Ramsay) is leaving Neighbours. No reliable ref yet, but I'll keep an eye out for one. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:37, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Have you heard about the police being called to the Neighbours set? [3] Also, do you think we should redirect Grease Monkeys to the Erinsborough article? It has no references and I don't see why it should have a seperate article, as it is no longer featured in the show. The image can be added to the Erinsborough article too as it's free. I've recently updated, improved and added some references to the Erinsborough article, so it's looking a lot better then it did. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 17:05, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi, no I haven't heard about that though it's likely to be true if it's on Digital Spy. Yes the Grease Monkeys and Erinsborough articles should be merged --5 albert square (talk) 20:30, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm keep trying to work out who the extra is. I'll redirect the Grease Monkeys article now. Oh, Karl Kennedy has returned to work at the hospital following a health scare and a desire to expose the hospital board. Do you want to update his article? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 20:55, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
No, I didn't realise that Karl had returned to the hospital, I watch UK pace not Australia pace, and even UK pace I haven't watched for a few weeks! --5 albert square (talk) 21:04, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I forgot you don't watch at Australian pace. I updated Karl's article earlier today. I was reading about the police being called to the Neighbours set today in The Sun, and read that the extra has been on the show for 12 years. I took a look at the Recurring characters section and I think I've worked out who it is. I hope she get better soon. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:40, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
I think I've worked it out too from that. I've now added a couple of sentences about this to the Neighbours article under the history section. I wasn't going to before because when I first heard about it it sounded like maybe a couple of glasses had been smashed but that was it, and that's not really encyclopedic enough to merit a mention. However now it looks like it was something bigger and Neighbours have majorly played down the incident so I've added a couple of sentences. Not named her though as we can't reference it --5 albert square (talk) 01:24, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
Evening. I'm guessing you've seen the editor that has been removing info from the infoboxes of Declan and Oliver Barnes articles. Now that Rebecca has married Paul, his sons and daughters would now be Declan and Oliver's step brothers and sisters, right? Or have I got that completely wrong? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:47, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
No, you're right, Elle etc would now be a stepsister or stepbrother to Dec and Oliver. That's why I don't understand why the edits are being reverted, ok they're not blood brothers and sisters but they're still family! Well, I could my stepbrother as being my family :/. I've asked on their talk page why they think Elle etc can't be counted as family but so far the anonymous IP hasn't replied. I don't want to edit it again in case it looks like I'm trying to start up some form of edit war which I ain't! --5 albert square (talk) 23:59, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
I don't want to edit it either! Lol. I saw another editor reverted the edits earlier, so it isn't just us that thinks the removal is wrong. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:09, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Checking for dab links

Hi, I noticed that you asked how to get WildBot to check an article for links to dab pages. I thought I'd point out, in case you're unaware of it, that there's also a tool which will do this for you: http://toolserver.org/~dispenser/cgi-bin/dablinks.py

BTW, often when I go to revert vandalism, I find that you've already taken care of it. Keep up the good work. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 20:02, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I didn't know about that tool, thanks for that! I've requested that WildBot look at KITT from Knight Rider, I reckon I'll just leave that page to the bot though. It won't do any harm.
And thanks for the comment about vandalism, I often find the same thing too, I go to revert it and I'm usually beaten by Cluebot! --5 albert square (talk) 20:15, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism, what vandalism?

Why are you reverting my edits and saying that they are vandalism. First, Im changing the date of birth as it is wrong. And the other edit is changing the year active from 2005 back to 2000, which is what it was originally and is the correct yearDrumnbass100 (talk) 23:17, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

With Lorna Fitzgerald by any chance?
They were reverted because changes like that must be referenced on Wikipedia. I can think of 4 references off the top of my head that I provided to back up her date of birth. Two of them were history pages, one was a birthday website and one belonged to UKTV. I got loads of hits when I googled Lorna Fitzgerald born March yet got none when I googled Lorna Fitzgerald born April. You didn't provide any reference to back up your claim she was born in April, nor did you provide any reference to state that she was active from 2000 instead of 2005. That is why your edits were reverted. I hope this makes things clearer --5 albert square (talk) 23:38, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

The annoyance of the people involved with vandalizing that page is way beyond anything I'd like to deal with. If you could keep an eye on the page it would be nice, I don't see this ending anytime soon. DX927 (talk) 16:48, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

That's ok. I see the IP causing all the disruption has been blocked but I've added the page to my watchlist nonetheless :) --5 albert square (talk) 17:07, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Am I going mad or wasn't it announced that Ringo would be leaving for three months and then returning? Surely that means he can be added to the returns section on the cast page? I'm going to take a look at the cast page later (when I've returned from the countryside) and maybe see about changing it to the EastEnders format, what do you think? That way there might be less problems with the duration dates and so on. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 13:14, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

That sounds like a good idea.
Yes it was announced that Ringo was leaving for 3 months, I think it's so Sam Clark could do something music wise? Not sure of his exact date of return though. I remember he was leaving because someone posted about his return but I reverted it because at that point he was only talking about returning. Talking to Neighbours about returning and actually returning are two different things in showbiz, nothing is guaranteed until you sign on the dotted line --5 albert square (talk) 13:22, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
I've had a fiddle around with the table and ended up taking a little inspiration from the Emmerdale cast list. I've added some colour to the top of the tables (I tried to find the closest colour to the Infoboxes), added a seperate references column, removed Declan from the departing characters list as it's the actor who is leaving not the character and I added Sam Clark back to the returning characters section earlier. I might leave the duration dates for now and we can wait and see if anyone tries to move characters up the table or add in other dates. Btw, I've replied to your message on my talk page. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 22:45, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the notification - so even if that is Tinie Tempah's official Twitter, it still cannot be posted? Just wish to know so that this doesn't happen again. Ninjinian (talk) 18:57, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi, no I'm afraid it can't be. It's on Wikipedia's guideline of links to be avoided I'm afraid. You can read this at WP:ELNO. If you've got any further queries regarding this then please feel free to ask XLinkBot (the bot responsible for removing external links like Twitter) or myself :) --5 albert square (talk) 19:10, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
It's a bit contradictory because it says "Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject", and is an official Twitter not an official page of the article's subject? That's the reason I reverted the removal of Leona Lewis's twitter from her page! The guideline isn't 100% clear. anemoneprojectors talk 22:16, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
It is very unclear isn't it? Mind you I can see where Wikipedia is coming from because you'd have no way of knowing whether or not the Twitter accounts are genuine. --5 albert square (talk) 22:43, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

your reversion of User Nimish Gautam.

Hi, you recently reverted a series of talk page clean-up done by a member of Wikimedia's staff, Nimish Gautam. As he explained in the context of his edits, the user accounts are being used for usability testing, and messages should not be left on the talk pages.

I encourage you to look a little harder at other users' efforts, regardless of their status, prior to making mistakes like this in the future. While edit summaries may be helpful, they are not required to edit, and you should look to content for an explanation. Bastique demandez 16:57, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

I don't think 5 albert square's actions are that outside the pale, considering Nimish is using a redlinked account that didn't at the time identify themselves as Wikimedia staff.. Apologies for talkpage stalking you 5 albert square, I came here after leaving a message on Nimish's talkpage. Syrthiss (talk) 17:02, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi, ok I'll apologise for that, however I did not realise that this was a member of staff making the edits. All I could see is that there was accounts say called usability3 that had previous warnings on it, yet the talk page was now just displaying a template and there was nothing to state why the warning was removed. When I was editing I was using Huggle, which, for some reason, has never allowed me to view user pages, user contributions etc when I'm using it (no idea why - it would be useful!) Believe it or not, although I've been a member of Wikipedia for some years now I have never actually been on Wikimedia before today and even then it was only by chance for a totally unrelated matter so I have no idea who the members of staff are and aren't on Wikimedia. Can I make a suggestion though? It might be an idea for Wikimedia staff members to state on their userpage that they are staff members, also it might be an idea that when making edits, they state in the edit summary that they are staff making test edits. I know edit summaries aren't compulsory but Wikipedia itself does state that they are preferred, there's even a warning template to match that :) --5 albert square (talk) 17:41, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I have tried to insert a logo of Matra company in Matra article but I do not know how to insert pictures into wiki articles. Could you help me and make article about Matra better ? Thank you. The logo may comes from web page: http://auta5p.eu/katalog/matra/matra.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.40.240.88 (talk) 11:08, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I can certainly try but I'm afraid I know nothing about Matra. If you're trying to upload a logo from a website, do you have permission from the owner of the logo to use it? It's just that if you don't and you then upload it to Wikipedia, you may find that you are in breach of copyright --5 albert square (talk) 19:04, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Logos can be used, but only in the article about the company/organisation/foobar. You need this page and you'll have to add a Fair use rationale explaining what you;re using it for and why. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:47, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Could you do me a favour?

If it's possible, could you use AWB to take all the italics out of the |work= parameters in the references on Lily Cole. It'd be a pain the arse to do it the old fashioned way! Cheers, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:43, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

OK, I'll try and work out how to do that. It won't be done though until at least Monday as I'm cat-sitting this weekend and don't have AWB on the pc I have access to.
By the way, a heck of a lot of upset Bill fans on Facebook tonight. I don't think I've seen ITV's popularity go downhill so fast before! --5 albert square (talk) 20:49, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
You might find that a bit tricky with AWB. I don't even know how to do it. But I do want to find out how to do stuff like that. anemoneprojectors talk 21:29, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi Anemone!
Yeah, I don't know how to do that either. If I get stuck though I think there's a technical help page for AWB so I'll ask there --5 albert square (talk) 22:24, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
I just tried to figure out how to do it using Regex, but it is so complicated my head is about to explode. But I noticed that there is only one instance of italics being used with the |work= parameter (Hello!) so it can just be done manually. anemoneprojectors talk 23:33, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Could you do me a favour too? Lol. I need to create a sock puppet investigation, but I've never done it before. Could you point me in the right direction? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 22:37, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi, I'm having to do this from memory because I'm not at my usual computer. From memory I think you need to go to the contributions page of the sockpuppet. From there you should see a link that I think says "arv". Clicking on that and from the next drop down box available you should see the option of sockpuppet. Click on that and the box will change and allow you to fill in the details of who you think the sockpuppets are. Once finished, submit it and eventually it should be looked at. Before you do this, I would suggest that you read Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations to see if Checkuser is needed as well --5 albert square (talk) 22:53, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Never mind, I get it sorted in the end. Yeah, someone will tell you if it's incorrect --5 albert square (talk) 15:13, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
On WP:SPI there are two handy buttons that pre-load the page and you just have to fill in the names and reasons, etc. Do you not use those? I forgot I'd done it before until I did it recently for Ln of x. anemoneprojectors talk 15:51, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi, no never used any buttons through that page, I always just use the options on Twinkle to report them --5 albert square (talk) 15:59, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Oh yeah you do, don't you? Maybe I shouldn't have sent June here to ask you for help :) By the way, can't find that "arv" thing you were talking about. anemoneprojectors talk 16:32, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

(undent)It's only available for Twinkle users and even then I think it's only available on Firefox. You should find it if you go to the persons contributions page, it's at the top I think it's above where it says "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" --5 albert square (talk) 16:34, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

It's at the top of user and user talk pages as well but it only works with Twinkle. Not just in firefox though, I use google chrome and it works for me. It won't work in explorer though. Oh, and yes, I'm stalking your page but I have nothing better to do! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:41, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, that'll be why I couldn't find it then. anemoneprojectors talk 16:45, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Oh cool, thought it only worked in Firefox for some reason. Doesn't work with Internet Explorer though, that's what I've had access to all weekend. By the way HJ, I've started up a discussion at Talk: List of The Bill characters regarding recent edits. Someone keeps changing it to say that all the characters will leave in September 2010. I know that's when the programme is ending but we don't know that all the characters will leave at once, and even then as it's only March, all the characters should still be reading current! --5 albert square (talk) 16:53, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Ooh just a quick note about the |work= parameter and italics in AWB. I just found out that AWB automatically removes them so you don't need to use find and replace :) anemoneprojectors talk 16:44, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Ramsay Street to be renamed!

OMG! - After a quarter of a century residents of one of the world’s most famous streets will have a new address – 25th Avenue. I don't like it and now we have to go round and change all the Ramsay Street's in the articles. The main article will need to be redirected too. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 13:38, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

*Sigh* I've just considered the possibility that it could be an April Fools joke, despite the fact the story was posted on the 31 March. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 13:54, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

It's April 1 in Australia already... anemoneprojectors talk 16:59, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Oh, it says 31 March on the page. Hmm interesting. I did see Kris Green of Digital Spy post on Twitter and he said that it's real and Five know about it. But I wouldn't necessarily rename the article, as it's well established as Ramsay Street, and I would probably mane some sort of reference like "25th Avenue, previously Ramsay Street" in all the articles where necessary. But that's a lot of trouble too! anemoneprojectors talk 17:02, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
I don't know what's going on now, but it's nice to see a DS forum thread I created mentioned in a story. I'm hoping it's a joke or part of a storyline, they tried to change the name before to Ramsbottom Street. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 17:57, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Haha, I wouldn't mention it in the Neighbours article yet, it may turn out to be an April Fool. If that's an April Fool though it's the best I've seen in a long time! --5 albert square (talk) 19:36, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Haha no I didn't miss that but I could've sworn I replied from my works pc before! Evidently not according to page history :/ Hah! That's good though isn't it? I think Huggle might be to thank for that --5 albert square (talk) 20:29, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
You probably got halfway through replying and then got distracted and forgot to hit save. I do it all the time! I wonder where we'll be next month. I'm still shocked that I've managed to rack up 11 and a half thousand edits! Especially since only 1800 of the are with Twinkle and HotCat! These are interesting: [4] [5]. People at RfA spend far too much time worrying about those, though. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:42, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Quick note, the Neighbours and EastEnders template discussion results were keep. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:40, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
HJ - lol I was just wondering how AWBs count was so high and I then remembered that I also used it to check a load of new pages recently ahem. I had no idea such a tool existed to count these edits until now.
June - I thought they might lol! Hopefully that'll put an end to all the naysayers now though --5 albert square (talk) 21:50, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
The renaming has now been confirmed as an April Fools joke. I don't think Susan Bower has done herself any favours though, people on the Digital Spy and official forums are not happy. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 01:26, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

(undent)I thought it might be, hopefully people will see it as an April Fools and see the funny side --5 albert square (talk) 01:32, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Ha, yes I am a member of DS, just don't usually post on it, tend to just read the forums. They're good for spoilers etc, I like how they also printed Neighbours April Fools, shame Neighbours took that off the Australian website, I was looking forward to catching a few folk out with that today! --5 albert square (talk) 01:46, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
