Copyright policy advisement regarding articles[edit]

2011 update[edit]

I'm sorry for any embarrassment that this may be causing you and happy to try to help resolve it as swiftly as possible.
First, let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with the accuracy of your information. It is solely connected to the fact that the information has been published on a website that is labeled "all rights reserved." Unless the source is explicitly licensed so that we can use it, we can't retain the content without verifying permission. This is a violation of our copyright policy. The description of the deletion is generated by a pull-down menu. It explains under what policy the article was deleted.
I've tried searching our system to see if I could find your letter, but I'm afraid that I do not. If you'd like to try again, please contact us at permissions-en@wikimedia.org. The licensing requirement has changed; we now require that content by licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 3.0 Unported. The terms are similar, but slightly different; you can see them at WP:CC-By-SA. Please make sure that the address you use to contact us listed at your contact page. We should be able to resolve this swiftly if you let me know after you send your letter. I'll try to track it down quickly for that reason. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:42, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Response to your latest inquiry[edit]

Hi. The copyright concerns were noted by a user name Star Mississippi. Wikipedia's policies encourage any contributor who notice potential copyright concerns to do something about them. This not only protects Wikipedia, but also protects copyright holders (if there isn't permission) and our content reusers.

It does seem complicated, I know, but generally is not--a simple e-mail from an authorized address to the Wikimedia Foundation at the address I have you above will usually get the ball rolling and is sometimes all that it takes. Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries is very helpful here. It will remind you of the address and even give you the language you need to verify your license. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:32, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:Captainhit, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Drm310 (talk) 22:13, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
