Notice of change

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

My Return

Ok. After a largely successful re-location of my family to China to overcome problems my wife and son had with living in the UK, I am now back on Wikipedia with my admin position restored. I will begin slowly (because all my local history books are still in the UK), I will concentrate on Cheshire WikiProject and some Chinese issues, and I will endeavour to use any administrator's privileges with caution. Note that China is in advance of the UK by 7 or 8 hours (depending on Summer Time) so any responses I need to make to other people's messages may be comparatively delayed. I may also be sometimes unable to achieve certain things because the Chinese Great Firewall may have been activated by some hair-trigger reaction to some article or some such thing.  DDStretch  (talk) 07:12, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Great to have you back! I've tried to do some work on the Cheshire project in your absence, but there's plenty more to do. There have not been many active participants in the project during your absence, other than Espresso Addict — and she took a long break, but is now active again. In her absence I did little on the Cheshire Portal, but EA has now restored it, and is submitting it for featured status. My main interest, as before, is on heritage, especially on churches, and I have been straying away from Cheshire to pursue this. So, welcome back, and I look forward to further collaboration with you. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 10:47, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Many thanks, Peter. I am starting again slowly, and I have commitments here that mean I don't have as much free time as I did when we lived in the UK. But I still hope to start to make positive contributions again. I am in the process of re-acquainting myself with the wikipedia "culture" just now.  DDStretch  (talk) 15:35, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
