Voila

Hey Florrie. HNY hope your business is prospering. I had Onepunchwonder contact my talk page and trying to contact you. We then exhanged emails. He/she says he/she knows of your father and you once made some inquiry. The email dialogue I had was with catharreigne@yahoo.fr and this appeared in my inbox under the name "Tony Clancy". It's all French to me !! -Sticks66 02:30, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Happy New year to you, too! I'm getting pumped for the new season with the Rugby League Summertime episode on Wests Tigers last night. Can't wait! So I have a stalker? They leave a message on your talk page and another but not on mine? Weird. The only frenchish exhange I've had on wiki was here about someone else's possible father. Weird (II). I might just disable my email link for a bit. Thanks for the heads up. Florrieleave a note 00:35, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Template:Rugby League Club Competitions

Hi Florrie, I agree that having NSW & QLD cup's in that template hardly makes much sense but I would suggest that it would be more helpful if you go edit the template and/or start a discussion on what should be included in that template, rather than just remove it from the NSW Cup page. It seems like the template was created by just one person with not much forethought as to what competitions should be included. Regards, Mattlore (talk) 21:45, 23 January 2009 (UTC) (PS: can you leave me a not on my talk page when you reply here, cheers)

I see that a conversation started on WP:RL so I'll just join that, Mattlore (talk) 22:08, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Triple J Hottest 100

Given that pretty much all the pages take the same form roughly, do you think a substitutable temple should be created, just to make setting up the page somewhat easier? --JB Adder | Talk 22:43, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

South East Queensland

G'day, I was wondering if you'd be able to do a blank map of South East Queensland? Similar to SEQ-councils.png. Just so I can use it as a locator on a couple of sport articles such as the Queensland Cup, Greater Brisbane League and Football Brisbane. If you could help, it'd be appreciated. Cheers! JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 10:58, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi - really sorry, but I rarely get much time to edit let alone do graphics nowadays. You could maybe ask on one of the project pages? Or at wikimedia commons - there's a request page...Wikipedia:Requested pictures/Places. Cheers, Florriewaltz a matilda 12:36, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Sorry to interupt, try Category:Maps of Queensland (and sub categories) or File:SEQ-U-LGA-Basemap.png.  The Windler talk  20:55, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Getting ready

Hiya, yes I am but truth is I'm reworking my User page a little to acknowledge that I'm steering my contributions as much to RU and even Australian soldier stories now as much as to RL. Truth is, as I believe you found last year, that it can be less frustrating working in fields were there is less of a melee of ill informed editors. But yes I'm also excited about season 09. BTW I just clocked 10,000 edits the other night. Rgds -Sticks66 01:55, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Brilliant thanks; love that stuff.-Sticks66 02:09, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Food for thought

I just read this article which brought a tear to my eye. I know it sounds quite righteous to say so but it sure adds perspective to the question of notability raised when someone suggests that a guy who's played a game in the Jim Beam Cup is notable enough for an article.-Sticks66 21:54, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Clunky GIF

Hi, I'm gathering that a gif.file is a less than ideal image format to upload as it can't seem to be resized to sharpen the image. I'm talking about the shot in this infobox. I've tinkered without being able to improve it. Could you have a look ?-Sticks66 11:57, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi, chook. No, I can't do anything with it. It is such a low resolution to start with, there's nowhere to go. There might be graphics programmes that can improve it, but nothing I have. Sorry. I guess it's the only photo available?  florrie  12:09, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Sorry to interupt, but I couldn't do anything with it either, although with a bit of research I found this [1], which has the person in a much better format that the one on his infobox. I'm not sure of the copyright, but it was made in 1932, so I'd just thought I'd point him out to you as second from left, middle row. Hope that, helps.  The Windler talk  12:30, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi Joel - I had a bash at enlarging Eric from the photo you have linked but he's as grainy in it as in the other pic. I think he'll just have to be small and sharp until another photo comes along. And don't apologise, I've chimed into discussions on your page often enough!  florrie  12:37, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Thx Joel. I hadn't seen that 1932 team. I will upload it as we currently have no other shot of Dan Dempsey, Joe Pearce nor Ernie Norman and Herb Steinohrt and Alex Burdon could do with a 2nd shot. rgds-Sticks66 12:52, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Brendan Waller

Just a friendly note on Brendan Waller. I declined the speedy deletion request on this article because while it's not obvious from the Wikipedia article or the club's website whether the Souths Logan Magpies is a professional club (or even notable), I believe there's a good faith attempt to claim importance. Because of the ambiguity, if you still think this article should go because it's a hoax or not notable, AfD would be the best route.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 16:39, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Re: Brendan Waller

I'm not really sure how that happened (I was having some trouble with Twinkle last night though). However, it appears that another admin declined the speedy so I don't think I should delete the page. Thingg 18:47, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

International Rugby League Players

I see that you keep deleting my edits but is it really vandalism? Why cant a rugby league player be known playing for 2 countries or even 5. I see on rugby union players like Matt Henjak is a croatian rugby union player he may be of croatian descent but has not represented them internationally, so i cant see why it cant be done for league players or any player. So am i allowed to have Jamal Idris as Nigerian, Israel Folau as Tongan or Craig Wing as Filipino and many more or not because if im not i was wasting my time editing them but i think they should because they are from both countries and its only fair to the weaker playing rugby league nations to get a mention. So what do you think i should do? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Folau111 (talkcontribs) 11:57, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Might I suggest finishing grade 6? (Sorry, couldn't resist).--Jeff79 (talk) 12:12, 10 March 2009 (UTC) i skipped grade 6 so i couldnt finish it
I would suggest you try taking the advice we have been attempting to convey on various talk pages, including your own and others that are, I presume, you. Jamal Idris has never played for Nigeria. The fact that a parent might be Nigerian doesn't affect Jamal Idris - unless he comes out and declares for Nigeria (do they even have a team?). He is an Australian rugby leage player. That's it. Same with Craig Wing. He's played for Australia! How is he a Philippines rugby league player just because his mother was born there? There is no Philippines national rugby league team! Your edits are tantamount to original research and are vandalism. You are not only wasting your time but our time as editors trying, as all editors should, to conform to WP:BLP. You could try to discuss these issues at the project page - WP:RL.  florrie  12:46, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

It looks like i have made a big mess of them all but really im just trying to make international rugby league pages stronger if i am ruining them i will stop.Folau111 (talk) 13:42, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

You haven't "ruined" them by any means, but it would be great if you could direct your interest in other ways. Whether a player has some ancestor that makes them 1/nth a XXX is hardly notable unless the player actually declares or plays for that country. Otherwise every other player would have three or four representative/nationality categories which is only confusing and misleading, imo.  florrie  14:18, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

1931 Mugs

Hey Flo, I reckon This one is just crying out to be cropped for a great individual image of each of the three - although we're not short on shots of Dave Brown. Is this something you have time to do ? I well then upload them to the articles if you can show me where you'll leave the crops. -Sticks66 09:01, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Nice photo - very clear. Here you go: Ray, Ernie, Dave. The resolution is good enough to enlarge if you want, but these crops are from the pic as supplied by nla.  florrie  00:00, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Thx. Most kind. Norman and Stehr look excellent in situ. I can't bring myself to change the infobox shot of Brown with the trademark headgear so have dropped it in the article where it looks a a little big. What do you think ?-Sticks66 12:54, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
How about left aligned and a little smaller? I think that looks better.  florrie  14:15, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Reverting

Hey, I notice you're pretty good with reverting. It looks like you use some kind of tool or something. A while ago some halfwit with a red login "cowboy" something went about removing all but current information from a bunch of Cowboys players' articles. You reverted a couple of them too. I clicked on his contributions to see if there were more and there is (e.g. Antonio Kaufusi). And rather than going about it the long way and sift thru the edits to undo them one by one I thought I'd see if you could go thru with your superior reverting skills to fix it? Cheers.--Jeff79 (talk) 10:57, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi Jeff - I can only rollback the most recent edit/s. I use Twinkle as my editing tool, makes it a lot easier although not all the functions seem to work in Mozilla! Cheers,  florrie  13:14, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Nationality Flags on the Broncos page

Hi Florrie, I read thru the link you posted and I understand now that they should display the country they represented not the country of birth. Thanks for the insight. I was getting confused because Civoniceva had the Fijian flag next to his name. Dampmannz (talk) 00:14, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Yep, we have had a recentish spate of flags being changed to not only birth countries, but countries of grandparents etc. Willie Mason at one stage had the US flag next to his name. There are probably quite a few flags on articles which aren't "correct" in the sense of their use in sports. Cheers,  florrie  00:34, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Wests Tigers jersey

Earlier you asked me to create jersey's for the Wests Tigers 2009 jerseys, are you sure they are commemorative jerseys. Maybe that's their new home jersey? I've held it off for a couple of weeks waiting for an away game, but they have worn that "commemorative" jerseys for three weeks in a row, maybe you know something I don't. I don't want to upload them yet because trying to change names on Wiki Commons is a real pain.  The Windler talk  12:13, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm only going on a comment on the WT forum - I thought it was for the initial "warmer weather" games. I'll see if there is anything official on the website. Cheers,  florrie  14:07, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Squiz

Hi Flozz. Could you have a squiz at the shot I've put in the infobox for Frank Cheadle. I'm perplexed that nowhere in my script am I saying "File" or "154px" but these words top and tail the image. Can you see where I've gone wrong -Sticks66 11:44, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

I didn't look to see why the 154px was showing, but you don't need the square brackets in the infobox if you use image = and imagesize =. I made him 100px, by the way. He looked a bit death-maskish/mug shotish to me in the larger pic but by all means change it back if you prefer the larger look!  florrie  13:34, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
I had another look out of curiosity and the mark-up for images in the infobox template is 154px. So by putting the image in square brackets etc you were duplicating the code/syntax/whatever it is and getting the image plus the File and 154px which was already there. Doubling up! It wasn't ghosts in the syntax after all.  florrie  13:42, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Thnx. You're right about it looking like a death-mask - even at the smallest res - but in this case, as with so many of the WWI fallen, I think I'm lucky to have a photo at all.-Sticks66
