Loki

Hey IronManCap, I just wanted to tell you that if you go into Disney+, you will see that Loki occurs between Endgame and WandaVision according to Timeline Order and indicates that after Nathaniel Richard's aka. Kang's Variant He who Remains says: ,, We crossed the Threshold", the Timelines started branching, when Wanda became the Scarlet Witch and in the Post Credit Scene, We can hear Billy and Tommy, who most likely exist in another universe, meaning that the multiverse is open and the war started. MkIc (talk) 20:00, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

@MkIc: I'm sorry, but that's pure original research. Like I said in my ES, please see the relevant talk discussion about this at Talk:Marvel Cinematic Universe#Loki on the timeline. IronManCap (talk) 20:04, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
Exactly. Timeline Order is somewhat notable, but the whole "Multiverse opened when Wanda heard her kids" is just a theory about the TikTok video synchronizing the end of WV and Loki season 1. – ChannelSpider (talk) 02:24, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

MCU GAs

Thank you SO much for all the enthusiasm in wanting to get a lot of the recent MCU articles nominated for GAs. I share it too, but having gone through a lot of them in the past, I can see how some quickly-made articles can fail really quick. Just expanding on my edit summary, in general, any article that has been around for less than 2 weeks probably isn't ready for GA nomination. And especially with the MCU ones, I personally have a high standard I want to achieve in putting for the nomination, so that usually includes ensuring we have a good amount of coverage for as many aspects of the episode that are available to us from released sources, and that it has been copy-edited in a manner that removes quotes if necessary (this was a big issue in the past). So just wanted to give you some more info on my actions, but again, really glad to have someone else working on these articles that is as enthused to get them to GA status. We just need to give it some time. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 20:40, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

@Favre1fan93: Sorry about my impulsiveness Favre, I just WP:BOLDly nominated it as it seemed well-written and had been expanded a lot, and I've seen what I think are worse articles that have passed GA (such as The Holy Trinity (The Grand Tour) or The Great Seljuks: Guardians of Justice) so I thought the article was ready for a nomination. I appreciate the revert and the note here, and I guess I just need to keep WP:NORUSH in mind. Thanks. IronManCap (talk) 20:48, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
Again, no worries! Not trying to act owner-y or anything, but wanted to pass along some observations I've had on the matter for as long as I've been editing MCU articles. For your info too, a bit ago (and I'm not sure if this is still the case), but films couldn't even be nominated for GA until they were out of theaters, and at a time when some of the articles were part of a Good Topic, per the criteria and how retention periods worked, each new film had until a month after its physical home media release to start a 3-month countdown to have it be nominated. And in pre-COVID times, that month after home media equated to about six months after it released in theaters. So even though there is currently no longer any Good Topic, and MCU stuff is on Disney+ too, that principle for even considering a GA nom about six months since a film's release (or the release of the first episode of a series) is still sort of our guide on the matter. Which, if you think about that, is why WandaVision and its articles are super close to being nominations in the coming weeks. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:00, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
@Favre1fan93: I totally understand the reasons for your revert, as you clearly have good experience of promoting GAs (41!). I wasn't aware of any of these conventions for when to put forward GANs; can these be mentioned at WP:FILM or WP:TV anywhere? IronManCap (talk) 21:39, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
We can probably add something to WP:MCU, since at least for the retention part I noted, that was specific to the MCU films topic. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:56, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
That would be a good idea. IronManCap (talk) 22:06, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

IP changing numbers

Like [1]. It seems to be a range of IP:s, see [[User_talk:PhilKnight#About_[3]]]. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:05, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

@Gråbergs Gråa Sång: That is indeed irritating, they're clearly the same user. Thanks for bringing this up. IronManCap (talk) 20:10, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Uatu the Watcher MCU

Hello IronManCap

I was thinking of the branching timelines of the MCU which features the characters in the new light but I got confused there

Won't there be multiple versions of Uatu in each universes or will it be just one? Seaweed Brain1993 (talk) 16:06, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

@Seaweed Brain1993: Uatu is The Watcher of the multiverse, so I think he exists outside it as a single being. --IronManCap (talk) 16:14, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Ok maybe Seaweed Brain1993 (talk) 16:23, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

My recent edits on Tony Stark (MCU)

Hi, I just wanted to say that I am not intentionally censoring anything when I edit this page. I am doing some small edits on the plot, and then when I hit publish, I run into this issue. Please understand that it is not intentional and I don't know what to do in order to fix it. TNstingray (talk) 00:17, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

@TNstingray: I'll assume good faith here and put that censorship down to a technical issue, although as I see BD2412 has noted on your talkpage, you are still not adequately explaining your edits. Wikipedia editors often leave an edit summary as simple as "c/e", meaning copyediting, to let others know they rewrote some text for readability purposes, and I suggest you do the same. Major unexplained changes and adding original research are likely to lead to an impression of disruptive editing by other users, so please leave adequate edit summaries. Thank you. Linking

Dear IronManCap

Thank you for alerting me to the problem, I am very new to wikipedia and have not figured out how to do everything. Thank you.

Mr.BananaMonster (talk) 23:40, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

@Mr.BananaMonster: No worries, it's just that linking straight back to a section is considered redundant per WP:SELFRED. Also, about your Mobius edits, whilst we all wanted to see Mobius on a jetski, we need to ensure the added info is notable (preferably real-world info) and reliably sourced. I've left you a welcome message on your talkpage that should provide you with some help with getting to grips with Wikipedia. Thanks, IronManCap (talk) 00:18, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
No mobius jetski is my villain origin story. – ChannelSpider (talk) 16:42, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello IronManCap I have a question for James Gunn's TSS. Is it a reboot of the 2016 film? Seaweed Brain1993 (talk) 14:58, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

@Seaweed Brain1993: Pretty much, it would seem. According to producer Peter Safran, it's not a sequel, but there are some characters that were in the first movie, right? So it's not really a full reboot either. So we just call it James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. Most reliable sources still call it a reboot though: [2][3][4], although some don't [5]. So basically, mostly, but not quite as it still has some of the same characters and actors. IronManCap (talk) 15:13, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
Ok Seaweed Brain1993 (talk) 15:50, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

Shang-Chi budget

Hello IronManCap As of now The budget for Shang-Chi has not been added even though the the film had its world premiere earlier. Is there no reliable sources telling the budgets? Seaweed Brain1993 (talk) 11:21, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I haven't found a single website or atleast a reliable source indicating Shang-Chi's budget. Weirdly enough, this keeps coming from the Shang-Chi article: The production received AU$24 million (US$17 million) in one-off funding from the Australian government, as well as backing from the AU$10 million (US$7 million) "Made in NSW" state fund. Oh well... – ChannelSpider (talk) 12:18, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
Additionally, Forbes indicates around a $140 million production budget. I also found a source from an unreliable fella, but turns out its blacklisted on Wikipedia. – ChannelSpider (talk) 12:20, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
@ChannelSpider and Seaweed Brain1993: Forbes was saying The Last Samurai has a $140Mil budget, so I guess we simply don't have any RS reporting on that atm. I'm not currently watching the page, but the Forbes piece does have some good analysis that someone may want to add in. IronManCap (talk) 14:25, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
Woops. Oh well, adding the Forbes analysis does sound good. — ChannelSpider (talk) 15:00, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I'm watching the film article. I was going to say that Forbes articles from contributors are not allowed and that's what Mendelson was, but it looks like he is credited as a staff member now, so I'll look this over and add in anything relevant. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:23, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks Favre1fan93. IronManCap (talk) 17:11, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
I didn't find anything of value to add from that Forbes piece. They don't discuss the budget, and it is from March, so that was so far away from its actual release coming up that anything in there was just wishful thinking, not any sort of tracking starting. We should discuss the Labor Day weekend gross once it actually happens and there are concrete numbers to compare it against (ie Deadline's weekend box office articles). - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:45, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, in hindsight it seems like an overview of lots of different films' revenues and doesn't delve a lot into projections and the like. Maybe that would have been a decent add in March, but not now. IronManCap (talk) 20:02, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

Ok ok got it Seaweed Brain1993 (talk) 05:14, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
