October 2021[edit]

Information icon Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Young Liberals (Australia). Please note that controversial material about living people needs to be backed up by strong reliable sources that clearly support the material in the article. As such, just linking to primary sources that do not contain the facts is not sufficient. Continuing to add such material without proper sources will get you sanctioned. April 2024[edit]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 03:18, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by adding your personal analysis or synthesis into articles, as you did at Giulia Jones, you may be blocked from editing. – 2804:F14:80C8:4701:9C49:A8E6:A25E:3091 (talk) 00:31, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have asked about this article at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#Giulia Jones. Johnuniq (talk) 04:27, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't add speculation again[edit]

Please do not add random speculation about living persons based on similar names or anything like that ever again as you did here [1]. I'd note that WP:IMDb isn't even a reliable source from Wikipedia's PoV so putting aside the speculation we actually have no reliable source demonstrating that there even was such a movie or someone with that name was in it. (But please don't find an RS since it will still be speculation.) You've already been informed how serious we treat BLP, I'll leave you an alert to explain another reason why you need to take it seriously Nil Einne (talk) 06:26, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
