Beaten Chocolate

Hi Samsara,

Thanks for the verification on the chocolate issue. I guess I could have gone through the edit history, but I was pressed for time. I like your user page, by the way. --Slashme 08:21, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"The Spa"

I'm a kind of astonished it took that long POV-Pushers detect the Spa. Well, I read your comment and have to say Dankeschön for that. I like Burke's Peerage 10:11, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I gave some additional information and, on the other hand, I deleted an unproofen claim. Would welcome your review. I like Burke's Peerage 14:08, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think that's sufficient to convince you, Gesell wasn't antisemite: [1] ? Please search Ernst Frankfurth (1907), you might also read the German Lemma on Silvio Gesell which menitons Frankfurth too. I like Burke's Peerage 15:39, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I like Burke's Peerage 15:43, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I made an new effort until I can research in depth. If you dislike it, you can, of course, do away with it. I like Burke's Peerage

Google- is hardware too

From the google site: here their business solutions include 2 custom built servers for searching.

I guess you thought I was referring to the specualtion of a google pc. right? We can only hope thats true :D --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 13:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if those make a significant amount of money towards Google's revenue, though. They only sell in Oz and NZ. - Samsara (talk • contribs) 13:33, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Thats true I suppose, but it is still it is hardware... Oz? do you mean australia? No they also sell them in the Eu and UK (and Im sure the US as well) [2] (in the product cart you hae to click on a link saying eu and uk customers click here to get to that page) --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 13:40, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Conclusive proof of international sales from the FAQ [3] --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 13:42, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the first website you cited had the inaccurate statement "Google enterprise search appliances now available in Australia and New Zealand!" - the word "also" is blatantly missing in that sentence. But the other references support your point. - Samsara (talkcontribs) 13:59, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I get ya. What do you reckon though? does it merit moving Google to the joint list? --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 14:15, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apology

In order to proceed with a clean conscience, I have to apologize to you for complaining so bitterly about being on the SCOTW contact list, even though I wasn't interested in it. I'm presently trying to get FLCL (an anime) passed to WP:AID, and only now do I understand just how much pestering is required in order to get anything done in an environment this laid back. So now I'm going to petition everyone with the FLCL userbox, and I couldn't bring myself to do that without apologizing to you first. -Litefantastic 16:08, 2 August 2006 (UTC) PS - Please vote for FLCL at WP:AID![reply]

I saw the liquidGhoul asked you to copy-edit Cane Toad just before it went up for FAC, so I'm guessing that your good at copyediting :). I was wondering (if you had time) if you could copy-edit the Green and Golden Bell Frog article (I've given it a bit of a copy-edit, but aren't that good at that kinda stuff). I've been working on it over the past couple of weeks and it has gone through a PR which brought up all the content that should be included. I want to get it to FA status, and think all it needs now is a good copy-edit. Also if you see any statements that you think need an inline reference can you please add the relative format after the statement (can't remember what it is). Thanks :) -- Froggydarb croak 11:49, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much :) -- Froggydarb croak 22:17, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
About the "making it second largest?" comment you put in the Bell Frog article. I can't address it because I can't find any published info to say where it ranks resepective of size, in Australian frogs, as I said in the edit summmary when I removed the comment. :) -- Froggydarb croak 10:31, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Say, please don't take my comments personally on Ubuntu. It is a good article, but it's not featured quality in my opinion. I wanted to ask you though, how do you get the (talk - contribs) in your signature? I tried customizing mine, but I couldn't figure it out. Thanks. (Bjorn Tipling 22:45, 5 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Ubuntu criticism

Thanks for your note regarding Ubuntu. I think more than a few users were unhappy about the article (see Talk:Main Page#Featured Article - Ubuntu) but it's been frustrating to see a lack of actionable criticism. I look forward to improving the article once the vandalism dies down a bit. Twinxor t 20:17, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-script: we are currently undergoing peer review, see: Wikipedia:Peer review/Scotland.

I am beginning to think that the Scottish Wikipedians' notice board is not the best vehicle for pushing up the quality of the Scotland article (we ought to try to get it to WP:FA, in order to get into Wikipedia:Version 0.5, or, failing that, Wikipedia:Version 1.0), and the other key Scottish articles. It is becoming increasingly obvious to me that we really ought to start up the long-mooted WikiProject Scotland.

Most of the stuff at the notice board (at least on the bottom half) is actually WikiProject material anyway, and the Talk page is really being used as a WikiProject talk already! The notice board should be just that: for bunging up brief notices and signposts. I am thinking of launching a Wikiproject and correspondingly radically clearing out, and chopping down, the noticeboard (a re-launch if you like). The Scotland Portal concept is fine (but currently mediocre/undynamic content), but in stasis: it needs a good kick up the jacksie.

For comparison, have a look at:

Spoken version of Ubuntu (Linux distribution)

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, it is true that infoboxes, tables, charts and graphs are the bane of the spoken Wikipedia project, at least for me when deciding what information to include. Fortunately for this article the tables were small enough to be a surmountable obstacle. In other articles I've had to leave off information contained in tables entirely because they are simply too complex. The one area I'm interested in improving is the description of the relationship between free, supported, unsupported, etc. versions of Ubuntu. If this table could somehow be converted to prose that would help the readibility of the article, and perhaps aid in comprehension as well. Part of the aim of the Spoken Wikipedia is to improve the written version by revealing awkwardness (such the overuse oddly placed or overly long parenthetical phrases) when spoken. :) --Omaryak 06:15, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

KarlV

THanks for your message. I can see there is history here, and I am sorry if by stirring things up I have made things worse rather than better. I just thought that leaving the indefinite block in place seemed harsh; as I've said, such blocks are generally used for containment of a problem that is considered likely to recur, rather than in a punitive sense, as it seemed to me was the case here. Sorry if I got it wrong, though to be honest I am still not convinced that I did get it wrong. Best wishes --Guinnog 10:38, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please directly report 3RR violations here in future? It seems you were involved in an edit war yesterday that included violations by both parties. - Samsara (talkcontribs) 15:56, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

However, I did not report anyone for the 3RR, are you sure I'm the right person? Rex 16:55, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've replied at WP:AN3. - Samsara (talkcontribs) 17:30, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to be such a pain in the ass but to what did you reply? This matter is about some remark directed at me about me reporting someone for the 3RR .. which I didnt do. Also I believe the remark you made at WP:AN3 was inappropriate. Rex 17:42, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thermographic images of animals

Hello Samsara,

I'm very interested in the subject of thermoregulation. I saw that Wikipedia has this area very good covered. We made a pretty big collection of thermographic images of animals, mainly for educational purposes. I was wondering if some of them could be interesting for the biology-portal. You can find a lot of examples at www.nutscode.com. I'm not a frequent wikipedia-user (yet), so I don't realy know where to start and who to ask.

Greatings,

Hey Samsara,

I recently created Fauna of New Guinea, and have been slowly improving it with the help of a couple other editors doing some minor stuff. I don't know if you would be interested in this, but I though I would make you aware of it if you want to contribute. I am finding it a great learning experience, as I had barely any knowledge of the subject; but the downside is that I want to go there more and more!

Also, I would really like to get Tuatara finished. It keeps getting bursts of edits, and then dying off. Do you think we should peer review it in an attempt to finally bring it to FA? Thanks --liquidGhoul 11:45, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yeah, that's right. I guess it can go straight to FAC, though I think we will have problems with prose.

Hey,

I have been looking for ages for a photo of Darwin's Frog. I have been frequently checking out Flickr, and had no luck. However, today I noticed this! It says on your user page that you can speak intermediate spanish. Are you good enough to ask for a better copyright so we can use it on Wikipedia? I don't really know what intermediate means, being monolingual and all :). Thanks --liquidGhoul 08:46, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
